Im looking at the HiFonics Zeus Z6400 (85x4 RMS). I need a 4ch amp to run my speakers. This amp is kind of cheap ($219). Anyone know if this is any good?

The Z6400 is part of the redesigned Zeus Series from HiFonics and is designed to deliver competition-grade performance with HiFonic’s renowned reliability and sound quality. The Z6400 features HiFonics’ “Generation” sleek heat sink design and utilizes a PWM power supply, a 12 dB / octave high pass crossover variable over 10-1,200 Hz, a super-steep 24 dB / octave low pass crossover variable over 50-150 Hz, bass boost variable over 0-18 dB at 40 Hz, and molded 4-gauge power connections and speaker terminals. The Z6400 doubles its rated power when bridged (unlike many inferior amplifiers) making it a real powerhouse.

Well years ago in the early 90s the HiFonics where killer amps. But after slouching sales in the later 90s they were sold to a different company, sorry I cant remember who. But ever since there quality has been less than desireable in terms of claimed power out put to real power out put, sound quality, and reliability. For around your price range I would recommend a Eclipse EA3422 its a 50X4 true power not peak power amp. And it retails for $250. check it out on eclipse-web.com. I have a wide experience with this amp and many of our customers love it for a low cost solution when you want more power. PM if you have more questions.
