jrp4uc 02-27-2003, 03:04 PM Over at CorvetteForum, discussion of the latest details MotorTrend has dug up. Their sketches are dead on those done by R&T a while back (not the red rendering that was on the cover last fall).
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=499845
Of the details, 425hp base car, 500hp Z06 when it debuts the following year.
Chuck! 02-27-2003, 03:17 PM That can not be the design. Its way too hideous (ugly doesnt begin to describe that car), esp after the beautiful C5.
poSSum 02-27-2003, 03:21 PM All together now:
Please don't pass judgement until you see it in person.
Chuck! 02-27-2003, 03:24 PM Seeing ugly cars in person makes them less ugly - thus retaining a good amount of its current lack of visual appeal. It does not make them look good.
But I still doubt thats what it'll look like when it comes out. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Darth Xed 02-27-2003, 03:25 PM You can see my post count over there at CF in that thread, you'll notice I am more of a lurker over there, but I must say it again... what is with that B-pillar?!?!
I just can't see those being very realistic as far as the C6 goes.
I hope not anyway...
formula79 02-27-2003, 03:33 PM I actually like that alot...the curves remind me of the C3:)
Don't like it that much but its OK. I'd like to see 1 in bright red or black. Don't like the fixed headlights on a Corvette. Its aight but the flip ups just belong there. IMO a design like that could be cool on a 5th Gen (not exactly like that) headlight pocket-style painted black in there.
Don't tell me you guys don't see SS Concept in the back of that thing without the silver that made us think Chevelle?? I think this is what Guion has been hinting at.
The front and side look good, the back looks terrible. I hope that part is not in the final version. I love the HP numbers.
Does the front remind anyone else of a firebird?
just change the back and we have a winner.
newby 02-27-2003, 05:05 PM Definately like those HP numbers! Hopefully they come in a 'vette that weighs no more than the C5, maybe even lighter.
Sixer-Bird 02-27-2003, 06:09 PM The insiders over at corvetteforum have said that those renderings are only 10% accurate. I really haven't seen any sketches in any of the magazines that I think are accurate or great looking. Some have been okay, but I think the real thing is going to blow people away.
And I hope those engine specs are accurate too.:)
centric 02-27-2003, 06:16 PM If that's what it looks like, it's time for another Viper.
Z28Wilson 02-27-2003, 06:38 PM I just don't know how they are going to make fixed headlights look "right" on a Corvette. In those renderings the lights remind me of the original Sunfire headlights. :o
I'm still going with what my friend who has seen it said....looks even better than C5 in his opinion.
guess who 02-27-2003, 07:29 PM The rear window is reminisant of the 63.The Vette came with fixed headlights in the begining so to say flip ups belong there is far fetched.

I think the C5-R light look good
check them out.

I was willing to give the fixed headlights a chance before saying no way. Now that I've seen them I find myself saying, "that would look better if they were just flip-ups as usual."
blu94Z 02-28-2003, 12:19 AM Look at the size of the B-pillar! There's no way Chevy is going to put a car on the road with a blind spot that size. Motor Trend probably got a picture of a disguised car and used it for their artist renderings.
danno02SS 02-28-2003, 12:56 AM No Sir,
Don't like that.
The orange one looks like a cross between a C5, a C4, and 300ZX an the blue one looks like a cross between C2 and C3 stingrays. Just say no to RETRO.

guionM 02-28-2003, 09:06 AM No way on the rear. There's gotta be better visibility. Front looks OK.
jrp4uc 02-28-2003, 10:14 AM I kinda like the Stingray look of the fastback, especially with the fins (see R&T drawing) along the side instead of the C5-ish molding. The b-pillar itself doesn't look so large; it's all the extra body work that surrounds the glass on the hatch (the coupe still appears to have a hatch). So perhaps this would only exist on a special, Stingray model and a traditional all glass hatch on the standard coupe.
Either way, I think it's not overly retro (certainly C3 inspired) and identifiable as a Corvette despited fixed headlights. 300ZX did cross my mind at first glance of the frontend, but so did RX7 with the C5. It should prove a nice car and will grow on people when the see it person I bet.
another crack-induced sketch. if the C6 has any of those dysfunctional cues, kiss GM's credibility goodbye

guess who 03-03-2003, 08:35 PM Compare the drawing (http://home.nyc.rr.com/c5cruzn/Misc/c62.jpg)
to the 69 manta ray (http://autoweek.com/weekart/2003/0303/0303vett1x.jpg)
Looks like Ford "MIGHT" not be the only one going retro.
PUH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
(sorry I just had to.Nobody needs to get mad at this it is a freaking JOKE!):metal:
