Drags or Slicks and Wheel Types

Okay I'm trying to decide what kind of tires and wheels I should go with. I'm leaning towards Weld Draglites with either slicks or ET Streets. Any suggestions? I was thinking about a 26x10x15 ET Drag with 3/4 tires on the front instead of skinnies but I'm not too sure yet. Ideas please... :D

Remember I don't have the power that you have but I am running 26x10.5x15 hoosier slicks on welds. If you go with a 15" rim you will have to shave down the rear calipers or else they will cut a nice rut in the rims. If you don't put the Moser rearend in before you use slicks you will break your rearend. Also, you should beef up the suspension on the car. I don't know what suspension work you have done but with as much power as you will be puuting out and running some sticky tires your going to twist the unibody. I would be willing to sell the set but the off set is a little off and the tires stick out and look kinda of silly. Unless you go with a minitub and a shortened axle. Then it would pretty damn mean. Just some thoughts

Food for thought Ben...ET streets will allow you to run in the "true street" type classes. I don't think they allow slicks.

I wouldnt imagine you would need the slicks anyway, your traction with the Streets will be just as good and it will allow you a huge advantage in mobility. It would suck having to change your tires if you just wanted to go somewhere like say to Sonic...!

That is a good point. If I want to go racing I have to take my car and my truck. It sucks having to lug around the slicks when you could just drive to the track with streets slicks.

Ben I would go with something like 15x3.5 in the front, and 15x8 or 15x10 in the rear. Weld Draglights are the way to go. Why dont you want to run a "skinnie" up front? Its kinda defeating the purpose if you go bigger.

Side note: I just found a set of used Weld Draglights. They are 15x3.5 with skinnies and 15x9 with Nitto 555R's in the rear. $700 takes them. Where was this Monday when I ordered my wheels?:cry:

i would go with 12x10 rears with 15x3.5 up front with et streets 15x11.5 26

I'm running M/T ET streets ( 26-11.5-15 ) on a 8.5 rim and they fit real well under the wheel wells , and as for traction , they work just as well as a full slick !! They're DOT approved so you can run them all the time and they work fairly well in the rain , I've been driving my car all week in this piss ass rain and as long as I don't go over 35 mph , I don't have any problems. I've even used all three stages of spray and they hooked VERY well !!! I run 20 psi on a regular basis , and 15 when its time to get serious , with excellent results. The best bang for the buck when it comes to tires !! Just my 2 cents. Ed :) :)

For safety Rim width to tire width should not exceed two inches in either direction.

stock you can fit 12.5 inches of rubber, and if you want to run a mini-tub you should be able to run a 15x14" slick on the track, but not on the street, you'd have to back it down to around 13.5"
However, if you are serious about it, then I probably wouldn't reccommend going with a minitub only to run a street legal tire.

I've always been partial to Hoosiers myself due to the long wear life. You pay for M/T's, but they also work flawlessly.

I run 15x3.5 Weld prostars in the front with a 5/16" spacer and 15x10 (7.5" BS) in the back with a ET Drag 28x11.5 15. They hook like a mutha :D
