OK, so if I get the ZFK stuff, I don't need Z-1? I want to get the swirl mark stuff because I have a black car, do I need both Z-5 and Z-2? Do I have to use the Z-7, as a Claybar Lube, or can I use the Meguiers Car wash I already have?

Thanks for your help.

You're correct, you don't need both Z1 and ZFX, one or the other. ZFX has many benefits versus using the traditional Z1 as a base coat, but both methods will give you a show car shine and unbeatable protection. Just depends on whether or not you need the benefits of ZFX for your situation.

For a black car, you'll want the Z5 polish for light swirls. Keep in mnd this polish is NOT a swirl "remover" but a filler, because it's not abrasive. Z5 works by filling in very light swirls and marring after each coat. After 3 or 4 coats, if you still see swirls, you need to use an abrasive, or just use the abrasive first if you know the swirls are gnna need repairing first, then follow with Z5.

You can use the Meguiar's soap as the clay lube with no problems. However, I'd recommend getting the Z7 soap anyhow because it really enhances the Z shine after washing as it contains a small amount of the same polymer that's in the polishes. You won't get the same benefit from any other soap while using the Zaino system. Plus the fact that is cleans really well and smells good! If you use the Meguiar's soap for claying, be sure to give the car a good Z6'ing before starting the polishing so you remove any films left by the Meguiar's soap.

HTH!

Thanks, that helps to clarify a lot. I still need to know if I should get both the Z-5 and the Z-2, or should I just get the Z-5? The car is brand new, so I don't think I need to use any abrasives, but it still has some light swirls because it is Black.

Try getting just the Z5 at first, and see if it shines to your satisfaction, then you can try the Z2 if you want.
My TA is black and I use just the Z5, and have zero swirls :D

For black paint you would benefit more from just Z5, instead of both Z2 and Z5. Z2 has a "slightly" higher shine and a little more clarity than Z5, but the difference in actual shine is almost impossible to tell between the two without a very sharp eye. So, you aren't really giving up any shine or depth going with just Z5, but you are gaining the benefit of swirl hiding capabilities with Z5 that you wouldn't get with Z2. I happen to have several bottles of both Z2 and Z5 polishes and use them whenever I feel like using one or the other, so it's really up to you. You might like the higher shine Z2 over a few coats of Z5. I like both Z2 and Z5 on dark red. ;) I do know that many darker colored car owners just prefer the Z5 alone.

Unless your going to show your car Z-5 works great on dark colors, I use only Z-5 on my cars. :)

Thanks for the help guys, I think that I'll just go for the Z-5 for now, I am not looking to show my car or anything, I just want the durability of Zaino.

You're quite welcome! :)

If it's durability and protection you're after, Zaino is it. I've yet to find a product that can withstand the elements like Z. In fact, with most car care products it's pretty easy to tell when the protection is gone because the water beading usually turns to sheets instead of nice tight beads. In all the years I've used Zaino, I have NEVER seen it turn to sheets or lose beading unless it was stripped!! That in itself is pretty incredible IMO. Anyhow, you shouldn't be disappointed with the durability, protection, and ease of maintainence going forward.
