Memo to GM ...

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for the GM Interchange packet sent to me today which advised me that the lease on my Chevrolet Camaro is in its last few months and also provided me with "A wealth of information to help me make an informed decision about my next GM vehicle".

I reviewed the enclosed information with eagerness and anticipation and also visited your website at www.gmcanada.com as directed.

Being "totally delighted" with my 1999 Camaro SS convertible I searched for the logical replacement for it; convertible, V8, RWD, manual transmission, seating for 4.

Hmmm... nothing. Perhaps manual transmissions are no longer in vogue.
Still nothing:(

Oh, it's probably the V8. With modern technology 6 cylinders are generating the power of V8's while still delivering the economy of a 6.
More nothing.

This has got to be it! Since even police fleets are making the change to FWD maybe I should too. Surely now I'll have a bunch of cars to choose from.
I don't believe it, nothing again

Now what?

GTO - N/A in Canada :(
CTS - No 2 door or convertible
Corvette - $$$

Ahh, here it is "Buy your leased vehicle".

Thanks GM. I knew you'd come through. :D

Yours truly,

poSSum

p.s. Drop me a line when you offer something that comes close to what the Camaro was.

They were on another line at the time...
A line to India...

Proud. i wasn't try to make a wound,i was trying to tell him that because GM decided to get rid of his choice in cars (a good choice too) he can get something like it somewhere else.

You didn't make the wound, dude. Someone else did when they signed the death warrant on F-bodies.

I wasn't flaming on you either 97z28... I think poSSum understood that I, like you, was just trying to throw a little sarcastic humor on an otherwise crappy situation. It does suck though. There are A LOT of those letters going out about now, and will be for the next 2-2.5 years. (What was the max lease term on the 'Maro... 36 months?) I'm feelin' it for all those guys. :(

I appreciate that many will see that as a solution.

As for me, I suspect that the Eddie Bauer jeans I'm wearing are as close as I will ever come to owning a Ford. (Yes I know I'm a bigot that way).

In GM Terms the "Special Memorandum of Sale and Receipt for Payment" is dated February 4, 2003.

so that means you can't buy it out .

No. I bought it out early. Before they even sent me the Interchange packet.

One of the conditions in a GMAC lease is that the car has to have $1,000,000 liability coverage at all times ...even when it's on dollies, under cover, in a heated and locked garage for the winter. Lay-up insurance (fire, theft & vandalism) isn't good enough. I bought it out early to save some interest and insurance costs.

Correct.

My original post was a pathetic attempt at a bit of satire.
