Especially the 2-3 shift. I thought it was just me until I noticed the other postings. I love manuals and I also have a manual in my Dakota; it is very smooth. I felt I deserved something close to that in my Z28 so I bought the B&M. Our weather here has also been horrible (a lot of snow this year) so I haven't installed my B&M yet but I am hoping for a big improvement. stik6shift98 02-17-2003, 08:11 PM smoother and shorter shifts........ Shempy 02-18-2003, 01:55 AM Just try it. It's all in the feel. It was my first, and best mod. ls1speed.com is having a GP on the Pro 5.0 - $165 shipped. You can't beat that. stik6shift93 02-18-2003, 12:57 PM Personally I have the 5.0 and love it better than the ripper(which I've also driven with), they have to different feels so my advice would be too find a couple of friends that have each in there car and test them out before you make your decision. lastZ 02-18-2003, 01:45 PM thanx guys ....good advice:D stik6shift98 02-18-2003, 01:49 PM dont waste your time with a 5.0 i had it and liked it for.....oh wait i never did once i put it in it rattled like a mofo..... then u have to tighten it everyday and stuff.....overall not a great shifter the bm ripper is awsome:D stik6shift93 02-18-2003, 02:01 PM My shifter has never come loose or anything like that. You just need to use some locktite on the bolts. I agree though it does vibrate a bit more. Black bow tie 02-18-2003, 05:13 PM If you currently have the stock M6 shifter, you will really enjoy any of the high quality replacement units. Kirban Kwik, B&M Ripper, Pro 5.0 power tower, Hurst Billet plus, SLP short throw. And if your on a budget, the Lou's short stick on your factory shifter would be a big improvement. I am very happy with my B&M Rippah. By the way, all the aftermarket shifters are noisier than the stocker, they lack the dampening block (which is also what makes the stocker feel like a "butter knife in a mayonaise jar") Ferocity02 02-18-2003, 11:25 PM I'm also looking to get a new shifter. Is there one made specifiacally for street rather than strip? I've heard bad things and good things about both the B&M and the Pro 5.0. I haven't heard anything about the others. Assuming price was not an issue, which would you reccomend for a street application on a car with few mods, exhaust, k&n, etc.... The B&M Ripper, the Hurst Billet and the Pro 5.0 are all going to be very noticeable improvements. Most of the differences between them are going to come down to personal preferences. | ||
