I wanna put in a 9 inch but I need to know the size Stephen 87 IROC 02-13-2003, 09:35 PM All third gens are the same width. Roughly from the end of the axle to the end of the axle is 63" +/- 1/2". That's the surface that the drum/wheel will mount on. Changing that width will require different offset wheels. Most factory 9" housing are too wide but there are a few models that work well. I used one from a 1970 F100. The only bad thing about it is that both axles were the same length. That put the pinion over to the passenger side 2". A proper car diff will have the pinion in the center and the driver side axle will be shorter than the passenger side. I installed mine with ladder bars so I didn't have to worry about finding some way to attach the torque arm. stonedchihuahua 02-14-2003, 02:02 AM well what I am planning on using for the touque arm mount is I'm going to make a steel bracket | ||
