HELP! tranny blew and fluid all over my driveway! car wont move! 700R4 93 Z28

Ok, a couple blocks away from home tranny started slipping. at a stop sign, when i started to go again, i press the gas and rpm's go up, but car doesnt move for a while. Like it takes awhile to engage... so I parked it last night. Go out today about 4:00 pm, and it starts up fine, but it doesnt move at all. No reverse, no forward.... and all my transmission fluid leaked out onto my driveway. Any ideas?

Ok, dont worry just yet, this could be caused by low fluid. It ahppened in friends 86 T/A (TH700R4 like our cars), he did a Torque converter and din't put the right amount of fluid in the car, so it did as your car is doing now. So my advice to you is change the fluid and filter and see whats up.

guys, thanks for the replies.

I do have a tranny cooler. I put it on in mid december of 2002. To my knowledge, the fluid started leaking after it started slipping last night. It possibly all drained out while sitting in the drive all night long. Tomorrow i am going to refill it, and see if I can find a place of leakage, and see if I can get it moving. Also check my fluid lines with the cooler and stuff.

Now, if worse comes to worse, would I be better off with having mine rebuilt (heavy duty) or just getting a brand new trans and converter??

I kinda wanna get a new tranny, to handle higher HP anyway... so what are good ones?

Summit has the TCI Street Fighter, and I like summit because they are right here if I have a problem.

Check your Transmission seal, where the driveshafts meet. If you have an inclined driveway, and a really bad seal. It would have leaked it all.

Good Luck.

ok guys, I went out today. Luckily its just a line up front where I tapped in for my tranny cooler, it came apart at a joint where I clamped it. Today I will try to fix that and make a better connection, then refill the transmission fluid. Hopefully it will go after that.... if not, its a burnt 1-2 clutch pack??

Thanks for the help guys

When installing a transmission cooler, make sure there is a flair on the end of the line, and double clamp it. Now the worse that could happen is a minor leak.

He means 'flared' [without flare nut], or 'bell shaped' at the end.. not just straignt line.. so the hose stays on better..

It was flared.... single clamped. With a closer look, I saw that the actual clamp broke. It is now double clamped with better clamps.
