I have a 97 v6 Camaro. My car got really hot and i got stuck on the side of the road. It will start now but it doesnt sound right and im getting coolant in my oil. Would this just be the head gaskets or is my block possibly cracked? I appreciate any help. Thank you.

It sounds to be a head gasket....

as for a tutoriol, I would jsut go buy a Haynes or Chiltons Manual for your car, maybe even both, they will give you a very detailed description of what to do.

Quick right up is you are going to have to remove, the Thorttle body, upper, intake, lower intake fuel rail aand all injectors, vavle covers, pushrods(they need to go in the same spot you took them out of so have a system to remver how they go back in. take off the exhasut manifolds take of hte cylinder heads, scrap off old gasket, and put everything back on.

I am pretty sure you will have to remove the alternator and probable the bracket too.

good luck expect to spend som serious time doing this especially if you do no know what you are doing.

Defiantely a head gasket and it shouldn't be too hard to do yourself.A gasket set is probably around $75 and you can do it in your driveway if you have a few tools. You need a torque wrench though to make sure you get the heads torqued back to spec.Good luck.

A haynes or Chilton manual should be the first thing....the biggest thing with this is whether or not you have the right tools for the job and don't mind getting some busted knuckles......this one make take awhile and if you have never done it before its not a bad idea to drag that a friend that has worked on cars to sorta look over your shoulder.

Watch out, because coolant can freeze up everything that touches oil
