any interest in trading your rearend for the one in my wifes car. it has new carrier bearing kit, and 3.73 gears, with aluminum cover. i am interested in a 3.23 rear end or 3.42 for a 94 z28. the rearend parts have a few thousand miles on it. to much gear for her automatic car. it is a daily driver type of vehicle, and i would prefer the gas mileage over a couple of extra tenths.

let me know if you are interested

thanks

I'll trade my 95 rear for yours if interested. its stock 3:42 just over 70K easy mi.s. no noise or anything wrong. but you gotta come here to do the swap in my gar. that I will heat. I also have an air comp. to make it even easier. I live about 40 min.s or so from the windsor bridge.
I cant do it till next week though cause i wont have enough free time before the car show on the 7,8,and 9.

email if interested.

car is in storage right now, I wanted to see if there was any interest. one key thing is I am looking for a rearend out of a car with lower mileage. all but axles are new in this rearend, so I am looking for something comparable, mileage wise. and the swap would have to occur at my place. i have all necessary equipment to accomplish this in a couple of hours. car will be out of storage in march sometime, most likely towards the end of march.

timberwolf, how many miles on your axle?

thanks for the interest.

Hey Taner, keep me in mind when you go to make the swap. I have a 3.42 rear in my '95 that has just over 70K on it. I just had the carrier/pinion bearings replaced by a GM dealer a couple of K ago too. Everything else was/is great (I Have receipts).

I have a 2001 Firehawk w/ 3.23 rearend; car has less than 8K miles, since I work so often. Fluid was changed at 7,500 with synthetic royal purple, and the gears were in perfect shape. This sounds fairly interesting, since I was thinking of getting 3.73's eventually. Email me if you are still looking for someone to swap gears with.
Thanks,
Marco

Sounds like you'd be better off with Marco's car than mine. I'll bow out.

Isn't the ABS on an LS1 a four channel setup, whereas the LT1 has a three channel? Or did it have something to do if the car has traction control or not? Just thinking out loud here...

Hey Taner, I'd do it in a heart beat but my LS1 rearend won't fit:(
I was looking to go to a 3:73 gear myself but from your experience is it that bad for gas milage?

brett,
it would fit, but you would lose your abs in the rear. gas mileage is in the eye of the beholder :)
