Unhappy Replaced opti seal, but still leaking. Could it be another?

I just replaced the opti and put it all back together, looked under the car and noticed it was leaking oil. Took it all apart again to see where it looked like it was coming from.

The opti seal had a small puddle of oil on the bottom of the opti seal when i looked at it so I replaced that and put it all back together again. Start the car up, and I can tell it's leaking from the exact same spot. Is there another seal behind the opti seal that it could be coming from?

I would think that even if there was another seal that went bad behind that one, that the opti seal would keep the oil in. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

I just replaced my opti opti seal and wp and I got it all back together just like you and I had a leak as you..... I went in and looked everything over an I come to find out that it was my wp seal....when I pulled the water pump the seal had fliped outwards and caused a major leak..... and it wasn't holding the oil back...Just something to look at....

Question

Are you talking about that little piece of shi+ seal inside the timing chain cover that is about the size of a quarter and is red and yellow/orange? OOOOOOHHHH I HATE that shi+!!!!! Major pain in the ***. I'm 90% sure that is it. Buy at least 2 when you get them.

The seal I'm talking about is #159 in this picture here
http://www.afrashteh.com/guide/bottom-end.htm
The reason that I think it is this seal is because in the old one there was a puddle of oil at the bottom of it, and you could see the trail was coming from there. Is there another one inside the timing cover that should be replaced?

#159 is the main seal, not the Opti seal.
The Opti seal is #158, but that looks like the one for the unvented Opti (pre 1995).

The seal Skull was referring to sounds like the waterpump seal (at least on 1995+). That is a nasty little bastard! A bit of advice -- don't install that seal until after the front cover is installed!
