whats the best way to clean egr valve

whats the best way to clean egr valve

and also is there anything that i shouldnt do when i clean it

I just unbolted it (2 nuts holding the valve on the back of the intake) and pulled the valve out, then sprayed the inside with some carb cleaner and worked the valve open/closed. Let the valve completely dry before you put it back on. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Either by applying vacuum to it with a vacuum pump or by working the diaphragm in and out with your fingers.

When I clean em, I unscrew the 'seat'[there's 2 slots in it], and scrape the carbon off.. also make sure the diaphragm isn't leaky..

Why clean it when $40 buys you a new one? With something like that I'd rather buy new. Then you know for sure you won't have to take it off again for 5 years or more.
