Thumbs up HOT DAMN! Add 325hp and pull .95 latteral G's for under $3000!

First off let me say i'm flat out AMAZED!

Yesterday I went to the store to get some soap, medicine ect and I saw the magazine rack. **** was getting boring so I grabbed a copy of Chevy High Performance. It had some stuff on hooking so i grabbed it.

As i'm flipping though it I see "Extreme Squeeze" (march 2003, pg 60)

They grab this junkyard 350 from 1975 which was never rebuilt and see how much juice it can take. They change the headgasket, carb, ignition, top end (new oem stuff) & intake manifold.

They end up shooting 325hp and it held up fine! It actually gained 15hp NA

Then they sprayed a 425 shot at too low of an rpm (morons!) and a ring land went. Had they not it probobly would have handled it .

On the 325 shot they made 599hp and 655ft/lbs!!!!!!!!

DAMN!
I said it before, and I'll say it again-
150hp shots are nothing for stock motors!

Now for the .95 g's-
this was on a 3rd gen but anyway-

same issue- pg 42
"ground gripping"
91 camaro
thicker Z28 sway bars (1 7/16ths) in the front and a .904 hotchkis rear sway bar along with a hotchkis sub frame connectors and a set of lowering springs with BFG 275/40/17 tires.

.95g's
67mpg salom

just to compare (I hate to say this)
99 vette-
.91 g's
61mph

sure at the end of the day he has a vette, but that camaro must really STICK!

One small issue....the 1975 350 probably has forged pistons with way stronger ring lands than the stock hypers in the late model LT1's. Pretty cool anyway though.

i doubt it had forged pistons. Compression was low though. ~8.5:1. That helps a little.

I thought that low compression was for forced induction not nitrous. High compression is fine for nitrous.

nitrous is forced induction

lower compression = lower cylander pressure

turbo/blowr shoot high pressure air in like nitrous

A guy i know has his internally stock lt1 taking a 275 shot.

Do it right with all the safety stuff, and you should be good!

Nitrous does not "shoot high pressure air in".
It add's more oxygen to the combustion process, which in turn with more fuel raises cylinder pressures.

Low compression and nitrous is a myth. Most fast guys run more compression with nitrous.
