weight diff 700R4 - th400Daddyo 01-28-2003, 01:47 PM With all this weight redution topics comin up on the board. I have a weight question? 700r4(4l60e) to th 400 ,350 and stock 10 bolt and 12 bolt and 9" Stephen 87 IROC 01-28-2003, 09:28 PM TH400 is around 175 pounds TH350 is approximatly 15 pounds lighter. The diffs will depend on what gears and carrier is in them. The 10 bolt will be the lightest because of the tiny gears and parts.. An open diff should be lighter than a posi. A 9" with 2.73 gears will be a bit lighter than one with 4.10 gears because the gear thickness changes depending on the gear ratio. The 12 bolt will change the carrier series instead of using thicker gears. The 10 bolt will have tiny 26 or 28 spline axles. The 12 bolt will have larger 30 spline axles. The 9" will have large 28 or larger 31 spline axles. Too many factors to say what diff is heavier since different factory options can change the totals too much. Aftermarket options can change them even more. You can get lightweight gun drilled axles. A 9" can get an aluminum center section. | ||
