I bought my car with GMPP axle back exhaust in the trunk. After 2200 miles, I still haven't installed it. This is my first "new" car, and I'm totally diggin how refined and nice it is inside. I really like how quiet the interior is, and I don't want to ruin that with some loud mufflers. I also like how the stock exhaust is loud at WOT, but it's quiet during regular highway driving.
I'm thinking about selling my NIB GMPP mufflers, and getting some shorty headers and cutouts instead. The shorty headers will add a little power, and the cutout will make the car loud only when I want it to be. I'd leave them open at the track, and close them when DDing the car.
Is that a viable exhaust option, or a complete waste of time?

electric cutouts would be nice on a DD. open'em up when you wanna run it with a flip of a switch.

you want to get rid of the exhaust because you like how quiet it is, but you want to do shorties and cutouts?! if you want more power, get a cold air intake and a tune and youll pick up the same hp as you would have with the catback.

I'm gonna do an intake and tune as well.

Too tired to search but there is a company on here selling a direct bolt in kit to stock exhaust with electric cutouts that bypass the muffler for strait exhaust.

It's a "noweeds" exhaust cutuout system. It's cool, but it's $1000 for whats basically a pair of cutouts and some pipe.

I want it quiet when I'm daily driving. I want it to have good flow when I'm going to the track. I figured the cutouts would cover both those criteria.

he was asking if it was a viable exhaust option and the answer to that would be yes..
