Jay-mak 06-12-2002, 06:50 PM I was just wondering, has anyone heard about a new Camaro being released...say sometime around 2007 and not an F-body? I've heard a few rumors over the internet but nothing concrete. However, this months Superchevy magazine has a concept drawing of what one artist thought a new SS Camaro would look like if it was produced. It kind of looked like a futuristic 1969 SS. Anyone else heard anything about a new camaro?
P.S. I think GM should take the '68 Z28, the exact body style, and make it with todays technology (Alum.engine, feul inj., lighter, suspension, computers, etc.)

WhoBetter? 06-12-2002, 09:25 PM i still think they should make a v6 vette with none of the crap starting at like $22,000 and they would sale like crazy.
I wouldn't change the f-bod much but I guess GM see's it as they have to do something drastic to get a quick pop of sales. If they make some retro thing it will only last 1or2 years, just a pop.

They will never make an exact reproduction of anything because think of all the trouble it would create when buying parts. Reproduction parts, new old stock parts, new new stock parts blah, blah, blah... Yeah it would be cool but it will never happen.
ShadowLight 06-13-2002, 12:42 AM I think this is better moved to 5th gen discussion...

Expect a 4 door sedan, FWD, and 100 ponies under the hood. And ya know what - I can bring out the old Z and say... THIS was the car.

redz_02 06-13-2002, 03:15 PM Chevy has an idea they just don't know I guess, I have heard about an affordable vette, Chevelle, and a new camaro concept, I think in super chevy.

vendela99 06-13-2002, 06:26 PM I think that they should not make an affordable vette, because i think that a v6 vette or something like that would be terible for the corvette name...probably great for sales for the first few years, and then soon after follow the same fate as the f-bods. i think they should bring out a new chevelle in a similar format to the new gto (monaro)as the median (price wise)between vette and camaro, and make the new camaros like some of the futuristic 3rd gen concepts I've seen thrown around, keep it rear wheel drive, and toss in the vette engine. I think that would be a sweet line up. If they don't do something like this I'm not afraid to say that I won't stay brand loyal. I'm a camaro guy, not a chevy guy, period, so they better get their heads out of their @$$es and get some good cars out.

Keep in mind that the first Corvettes (mid 50's) had a V6 option.
Early 3rd gen f-body's came with 4cyl's but it didn't harm the namesake.

Ummmmm, it was a straight six as the only engine available. Sales were in the toilet the first few years and the car was nearly canceled. Ford actually saved the 'vette in a way. GM did not want to be embarrassed by the new (8 cylinder) Thunderbird so they gave the Corvette their new V8. Only then did sales take off.
Hopefully history will repeat itself with the new Mustang lineup emabarassing GM into a world class Camaro.
Oh and does anybody really look to the four cylinder years and get all warm and fuzzy?

'01BlackZ 06-16-2002, 03:01 AM i dont care how they bring it back, as long as its still a muscle car with great looks. they gotta keep the t-tops too. i think that a '68 or '69 look would be good. but i dunno if they could pull off the right look today. personally i think that ford messed up the thunderbird when they brought out the new body style.

brharris27370 06-26-2002, 01:57 PM New Camaro will probably look like the Pontiac Aztec, Chevy Avalanche and that new Caddy. They need to fire some designers before releasing a new Camaro.

bwhahahaha
Sad but true...
Superchevy magazine has a concept drawing of what one artist thought a new SS Camaro would look like if it was produced. It kind of looked like a futuristic 1969 SS.......jay mak posted this does anyone have the pic for this
I'll see if I can get my scanner to work. It's in the August 2002 Issue if you want to go get it. It looks awesome. Real fat.
Geoff Chadwick 10-11-2002, 11:43 AM I've heard more of 2008 or 2009. I can wait 7 years. Heck, the Mazda RX7 guys have had to wait for the new Rx8, and the Supra guys have kinda been betrayed... like us (N/A v8 instead of the neato I6 turbo)
I dont doubt it'll make it back. I think people are getting too whiney about RWD. Handles better? If you cant drive RWD, then FWD handles better. But rolling hard on the throttle out of a turn on my z28 makes me fuzzy inside.
Also notice now that the freakin Nissan Altima is a fast ass car. GM is going to be on Displacement on Demand by then, as well as DOHC by then, which will be irritating, and yes I know the engine was HUGE but the LT5 made 400+HP out of a 350... The LS6 does it with 2 valves per cylinder... An LS6 with DOHC might net 500HP top end, and with Dod, it'll surpass the current gas milage, which I hear (if you're really nice to it) will hit 20/30 mpg. If they get 10% more with Dod - that'd be 22mpg/33mpg. :) And 500HP.
My next car is going to be an 80-81 z28. I love the look with the full aerobody (also what my dad owned, let him drive it like old times - poor bastard married my mother and she sucked the life out of him) and then a 3rd gen, and then a 1st. And if they dont havea 5th by the time I want one, I'm gonna mail ford logos to the GM Ceo and tell him I'm sick of seeing these infront of me.

 are u out of your mind:confused: ? the vette is a super car not a sporty looking gas saver.. if GM ever put a V6 in a vette i would never buy a GM again...
Yeah that is kinda stupid.
