Not only is this truck larger and uglier, they are dropping the V8 option and replacing it with a 161HP 4cyl.

When the 2010 4Runner hits the market, it will be equipped with the buyers choice of either a 161-horsepower four-cylinder or a 268-horsepower six.
How much is this thing going to weigh?

Well the V6 has 268hp compared to the current V8's 260. Its most likely down on torque though.

Now the 4cyl... wow... 161hp trying to push over 2 tons won't be pretty. And people thought the 220hp H3 was bad.

Anyone thinking this will be lighter than 4750lbs? The Lambdas are right at 5000lbs. I can't imagine a 4cyl trying to push that around.

The current V6 is right at 4000lbs and the V8 is 4300lbs. I'd say 4500lbs at most for the next one.

TTime for a tturbo...I'd think only 161hp in that thing would be as miserable as driving a Yaris.

The 4 cyliner should have circa 1989 performance. Slow by todays standards..but enough to do what it needs.

it will probably get an insignificant mileage increase over the V6 since the damn thing will be laboring all the time.

Building slow, ugly cars is apparently one of Toyota's specialties.
