Hey guys, I had a blast at my first FLFBA meeting last night. I was really impressed with what a great group of people you all are. Since most of my friends have moved out of the area and the people I work with are a bunch of mini van driving old farts, it meant a lot to me to be able to hang out with interesting, fun people who share the same interests as myself. I'm really looking forward to the spring events so I can see everyone's cars!

Would have to be the FLFB club unless you know of another one in the area. There hasnt been talk of an WNYFA club in almost a year on the board. Just about all members that were in the WNYFA now come to FLFB stuff..

Its the Finger Lakes F Body club. The best part about it is you dont have join in the form of a due or payment. You just show up, contributue to the discussions, share ideas, and have fun! Just email Gary(GM98Z) with your addy and your in!:) We had a meeting in Buffalo a couple months ago, went go carting and to Buffalo Wild Wings, just had this meeting in Rochester, and have plans to go to the North South Shootout in May, plans for a couple Bar B Q's, and plans to rent out NYI this spring/summer. Most of us already know you Jason Z. Just come out next time.:D

Paul they are two different clubs. The FLFB club was formed at the same time the WNYFA was around. Just so happend that almost all the members "rejoined" the FLFB. More or less its the same people but in a better group of people.:)

Just so there is no confusion..........FLFB stands for Finger Lakes F-Body's of Western NY . The "Club" was formed by , Jason Short and Gary Matteson

We are not associated with Wnyfa in any way, other than some of us were members of Wnyfa.
Our group is based very loosely, no memberships/Dues etc. We have 7-10 events each year, some very planned others spur of the moment.

Our Mission is to Modify, race and otherwise Hang out with like minded people ( Friends) from all over the Central and Western NY area.

Either Jason or I Post Planned events @ least 2 weeks in advance!

I hope this clears up any confusion. If there are any further qusetions, you can e-mail me.

well, i owe all of you an apoligy. under circumstances, beyond my control, i couldnt make it.
i was out of work for 8 days and still currently recouperating from the effects of broncitis, pharyngits, and pneuomina (sp?).

it was pretty rough, i had a total of 3 hours of sleep in 4 days, as well as no food for 3days. i could go on forever, but the reason being, i was really sick.
i was looking forward to meeting all of you and seeing the guys i have known for sometime.

anyways, again i am sorry..

my update on a vehicle is coming slowly. i am very interested in a 2001 SS with everything done to it. pulling over 450rwhp NA, and over 525rwhp on a 75 shot of juice. the only thing is, the guy is appreantly on the road constantly, and i have been waiting for over 6 weeks for pictures and some info beyond that.

besides, that, there were a few other promising leads, that i have failed to get responses out of.

i have seen a dozen SS's i would go after, but color and tranny preference isnt going well. lots of red SS's, but gary already has that covered, and i am not willing to buy an auto, nor hardtop.

but besides that, i have nothing to work with, so i am keeping my eyes open, and am actively searching for the right one.

well, sorry to take up your time, im sorry i missed it, and hope to see you guys on the road in the spring.

Well, I'm really sorry I couldn't make it to the meeting :(. Next time, I guess....

Anyway, I am still interested in a track day. The thing is, the national F-body even is on May 8-10th, and I am thinking of going. That's the weekend I was thinking of a track date. The weather in late April is pretty iffy, but what do you guys think about trying for the last weekend in April? Will your cars be ready? That's two weeks prior to the national event, so it could be a shakedown for those of us who are going.

Rich + 3 from Kennedys

but for future info, i will be away the of 4/25-5/4, as i will be in vegas!!!

on an update, i thought i found my car, its a 2k SS with 20k miles on it...pretty loaded...silver...everything i wanted, but the dealer wants $25k for it! i almost laughed in his face when he told me that. car is in mint condition, no doubt about it...but he wants way to much.

Jason, the WNYFA is old, has no goals or functions, and in my eyes is no longer a worthy organization for F body guys. Time to join a new club

It kills me that the only time anyone from WNYFA shows an interest in doing anything- is when I don't send emails out.

Anytime I previously asked for help, or for participation- no one cared to respond! It's winter- I have enough problems getting WNYFA together when our cars are out. Why should I, as well as the few die hards left- trouble ourselves when all we have to talk about now are winter beaters?

The truth is, it's been a while since we had any worthy members. Do you know how hard it is to organize an event and have no one show up? I am sorry, but with the brief acception of a few individuals- I really don't care to associate myself with lazy, finger pointing people that do nothing but complain.

We had 3-4 gatherings A WEEK for an ENTIRE SEASON.
Canada, Car shows, events, dinners...

It was RARE that anyone from WNYFA showed up. I provided updates via emails and phone calls. I provided us with things to do. I tried to make it work. Where were you guys?

So rather than hiding behind a facade- realize that the death of a local club is your fault, not mine.

Good luck to Gary, Shorty and the rest of FLFB and have a safe and happy new year!

Just a few comments:

I am not sure that most people consider going to the street races where people stand around and drink beer and sit/stand right next to where people are racing an event. Or going to a burn out pit where people wander around and who knows whats going on while domestic disputes break out. I do/did not trust my prized possession there. Or people who do show up and then get left by the "leader" due to a party that night. What does that accomplish? Show up late...leave early? Does not seem to work well, the proof is the club or lack there of at this point. I have not even seen you post in this section for a long time, its almost like avoiding it.

Questions and concerns arose recently and nothing was said or helpful suggestions on why. More or less explanations.

People are working on new projects getting ready to do things...no offers of help.

WE went to the track a few times and if you don't want to actually get a time slip for fear of what it says then thats ok but don't say we didn't do things. That was a good portion of WNYFA going to those events. Damn cold and fast runs. Rushing a meet to hit the strip club may be some people's idea of a club event but not most of ours...especially those of us who bring "extras" along.

There was no organization and no support structure. I never got to vote on President, VP, Treasurer, etc. When did those votes happen? If you want to take peoples money you damn well better be able to tell them where in the hell it went. $20 per person did not all go into stickers.
A website you were working on? Where is that? I have seen nor heard nothing.
People offered to do newsletters and you accepted and then nothing came of it, they never knew if they would be finacially compensated which goes right back to where did the money go.
You would get all pumped up for a month or two then DISAPPEAR into thin air for months after without a word.

Thats all I have for now.....

I am not trying to be an ass, if I came across as one...sorry. I don't always agree with what everyone else does either.

I had been asked for my thoughts in the past, and I tried to give them the best I could; for whatever they were worth. I am not sure much if anything was ever accomplished, however.

Wah wah wah.

I gave YOU the opportunity to take part in helping organize this club. You lazily did nothing about it. And vote? Ha! No one would answer those emails, so I had to appoint those that (at the time) seemed motivated enough to do it.

I delegated tasks and duties to multiple people who couldn't get things done. I had THREE different events coordinators. I had several treasurers, and several "webmasters".

Once again, a club needs people that want to participate- it's too bad you didn't want to help when it mattered. It is always easier to complain than to help solve the problems.

I asked multiple people to help with a website, with organization of events, with organization of a club. YOU even offered to do it, but like many others- DID NOTHING.

As far as the newspaper- I told Matt I would pay for it out of my own pocket if need be. It is hard to coordinate a newsletter when the VP/Editor can't be reached.

I know I'm not perfect- but I tried to get this thing to work, and unfortunately, I failed.

On a personal note (seeing as you are trying to embarrass me publicly)- Just cause everyone calls it a night, doesn't mean I do. I'm not ashamed. But don't give me that high and mighty attitude- you had fun at those parties, and you were more than happy to play with strippers when we went to the strip club together. I even gave you money so you'd have fun, and this is what I get in return? I never twisted your arm and only invited you because I valued you as a friend. Sorry to see you wanna turn that into something against me.

And for the record, the ONLY time I ever left an event early was in Rochester on the water- as I had to meet an old friend. I showed up late, because unlike you- I have a job. Daddy doesn't fund my toys. I don't see people complain when others skip a meet because they are at work. So what's the issue? I have made all but 2 meets since October of 1999. I think that is pretty good. Can you say the same Phil?

Well, so much for staying on topic... :D

I really don't want to turn this into a flame fest.
My thanks go out to Craig Aimey, Dave Sk, Scott Ermer, Mark Striemer, Paul Dolan, Jason Zajack, Butch, Matt Snell, Phil, Dan Marvin, and Matt for being there all the time.

Once again- thanks to all for the memories. I hope to see some of you this summer!

I dont want to rehash anything that was said or dig up the past but Ill give my $.02 on the topic...

I think the main reason the WNYFA didnt succeed was that it was too structured. What is a President, VP, Treasurer for anyway? I never really saw what it was needed for. I think things got too complicated and thats where people lost interest. People like things simple. Once $$ is involved people shy away....An internet website with 10 people isnt going to cut it. Some clubs do have cool websites but at the same time they have 200+ members and 3/4 of the people are not college kids. Dont want to mention names but besides Gary and Rich everyone of us is on a limited budget....

Another would have to be your and Scott Ermer's presence on the board. You guys are never on!! Im not saying you have to live on the board but I havent seen you guys post in months! This is another way people lost interest...alot of people didnt even know what the WNYFA was all about. Emails didnt work but for some reasons posts never were made.

Another would be the events. The events needed to be more in advance and structured. Going to Lundys lane, Andersons, the summit park mall and local cruises every week got to be a bit too much. I myself couldnt show up to those events every week. The summit park mall is a good 45 min ride from my house along with lundys lane. That and the one time I did go to Andersons we "cruised" aimlessly into nowhere. I didnt even know where i was. We got to the parking lot and sat there. I was bored the whole time....

I guess you could say the FLFB is in my eyes a close group of friends more than a club. We help each other out first and foremost and get together once a month so some anticipation is built up. Worth while events are planned months in advance and end up being really good times with a really good turn out. I know I can turn to these guys for almost any automotive advice, help, or to just plain hang out. I never felt that in the WNYFA, not saying its your( Steve's) or anyone elses fault.

I guess what Im trying to say was the club tried to be too much too fast. The goals chosen were not appropriate for the turnout and interest. Dont get me wrong, I didnt not like the club totally it just needed to be a whole lot simpler.:)

sh*t, since steve doesnt like me for opening my mouth and my opinion of his club, i might as well throw in my pennies to this issue anyways.

$20, and i saw 1 window sticker and one newletter in the mail. WOW, i couldnt care less about the $20, but i think i would have gotten more enjoyment out of it, if i held a match to it.

i agree with phil 100%...website, organization, idea's were far short of par!...everyhting was for buffalo and canada. strip clubs are fun, but maybe once or at most twice a year...or do that sh*t over winter break...that way a group can get together in the off season with the beaters.

fingerlakes club had a big event this month, so, i dont see how it could be all the hard if its been done. i wish i could have attended, but i am was extremely ill.

also, i do remember that steve set wnfba up, and that was a great move, but it quickly ran into his club. i was in it from the beginning and i never got to vote, and i was quickly removed from his email list cause i voiced my anger.
its ok, i am not mad, and i have never lost sleep over it steve. you are a nice guy, but i dont agree with how things went!

it ended very unprofessional between us, and i have yet to hear from steve since. i apoligize if things went sour, that wasnt my intentions..but the finger lakes club, seems to be a club

a club is what a group does together, not one person dictating what he or she wants to do in his area!
steve that night on the lake was wrong of you. you have advance notice of a club event, and you could have made plans around it. i understand how things come up, but i know there was more you could have done...you were the last to arrive and the first to leave...you were with the group no longer than 90 minutes.

no hard feelings buddy, and i am sorry to finger point, but i do have to agree that you ran the show for the most part and didnt share ideas very well. anyways, its done and over...things seem to be great with the finger lakes club and it seems to be more friendly and even did something out here in syracuse last year...thats how a club works!!!

anyways, once i get my car, i am gonna be a better participant and active amoung the group...jason and gary both call me everynow to say hi, or see whats the update on my car, and they always ask for my opinion.

gary and jason are good people and i am glad they are my friends...i am a better person cause of them.

steve, goodluck and hope everything goes well with you and your family! you are better than what you show at times. i do hope the next time i am in your area, we might hook up for lunch...that ok with you???

sorry so long

Hopefuly this will be short and sweet. We could sit here and talk all day long about WNYFA, the good, the bad, and the ugly. What I take from the situation is that I have met alot of great friends as a result, most of which (if not all) are still a part of this board and more importantly FLFB of WNY. As WNYFA may be called a failure, it succeeded in one aspect, and that is the friendships I have made along the way.

In closing alot of mistakes were made and I too agree that WNYFA was too much too soon. That is why I find our group now to be very refreshing. I hope the air has been cleared, and we can all learn from this (although I think we already have).

(Putting Flame suit on!)

I will go a different way with this.........I am greatfull for the WNYFA as this group gave me the oppurtunity to meet a bunch of great ( and some Not So!great) people!

The focus of FLFB has NEVER been to compete with our Friends of WNYFA but Jason and I wanted to go in a different direction.

We have openly invited EVERYBODY from the WNYFA group on more than one occasion, some showed a interest and some did not.

Just so there is no confusion.........FLFB is a group of FRIENDS that hang out once a month or so (sometimes more, sometimes less!!)there are no dues and inclusion in our group is voluntary! We have about 4-6 Planned events for the upcoming year, and I will once again send out the following message.....

Anybody that would like to join us is welcome ,we are more about racing and modifiying ours cars than show and shine (I know!!!)

Gary, Dave and Matt- THANK you for your replies.

I guess the only thing I disagree with is the "too much too soon" line. The club I hang with now gets together 3-4 times a week, eats, has seasonal parties, basically lives together. They are strong, and they have a lot of fun. It works for them, but then again- everyone in that club wants to do those things.

Gary- I don't blame you or Jason for starting a club. Especially after that time you drove all this way to meet with 3 cars. I still feel bad about that. I also should have done more that night to cater to you. My apologies.

And droopy, I've been waiting for this moment.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE???

As far as I'm concerned you have no right to talk about WNYFA.
You never showed up, you always complained- you are a cancer to ANY club. I can't believe anyone would want to hang out with you in any setting.

Your post illustrates perfectly why I wanted nothing to do with you.

To be quite frank, it was your ignorance and bad attitude that got you booted, not your opinions.

Allow me to further address your concerns.

everyhting was for buffalo and canada. strip clubs are fun, but maybe once or at most twice a year

Excuse me? We did the ripper bar thing once. Not to mention- you were one of the key people pushing for a trip to a strip club. You certainly weren't complaining when you were in the back room getting a lap dance.

So cut the crap- you're a liar and a bad one at that.

After that, I didn't do a strip club outting because the club became more family orientated, and I wanted to do more automotive events. Shows how long it's been since you've been active- that was 3 years ago.

everyhting was for buffalo and canada

And how many times did we go to Rochester? Bath? Corning?
The club catered to everyone. Seems to me the only time I ever saw you was in Rochester- you couldn't be bothered to leave your county.

also, i do remember that steve set wnfba up, and that was a great move, but it quickly ran into his club. i was in it from the beginning and i never got to vote,

Let's be honest here- When I tried to cater to everyone, it failed because no two schedules were alike. When I set up a set date- I asked what people wanted to do, and got minimal replies. I tried to keep things organized, but that was the extent of it. I am COMPLETELY INSULTED that you felt that this was the Steve NY Club.

We did what club members wanted, plain and simple. If you aren't happy with it- blame yourself for not participating.

Best regards,

Steve

Well I was'nt going to post, but I feel the need to now. Steve, we all hear your opinion on things, so lets just leave it at that....no need for personal attacks on Dave as he is a good friend of all of us (FLFB'ers).

2 things FLFB is about: Friends and modding/racing LT1/LS1 cars
2 things FLFB is not about: Strip clubs and politics
