thebeast93 08-28-2009, 04:50 AM I just bought some 2009 Zr1 replicas which are 17x8.5 and 18x9.5. I was wondering what is the fattest tire i can put on the back 18x9.5 and if it can be to low profile. I found some 295/30/18 but i don't know if that is to low profile and if a tire that wide would fit. Also and any recommendations on the front tire sizes?
Thanks for any help because i am a wheel and tire newbie
Injuneer 08-28-2009, 06:26 AM Do you have a 93? Might want to add a "signature" with basic info about your car - year, model, engine, trans and any major mods. That way people won't have to ask.
If it is a 4th Gen, it left the factory with either 26.1" (base V8) tires, or 25.7" tires (V8 with Z-rated option, WS6 or SS). You need to match the tire diameter to keep the speedometer accurate. Or you need to correct the speedo via a gear in the VSS (93 only) or programming the PCM (all other years).
A 295/30-18 is too small a diameter, at 25.0". You would be looking at a 275/35-18 (25.6") or a 285/35-18 (25.9"). You might consider a 295/35-18 at 26.1", but most tire manufacturers recommend at least a 10.0" wide wheel for that size.
That Camaro Guy 08-28-2009, 09:23 AM I'm running 18x9.5 on all fours with 275/35-18. I wouldn't want anything lower profile and the width is perfect. Here's a pic for reference:

Thanks, those are uncoated polished aluminum ZO6 wheels from AFS. I bought them with with tires mounted, balanced, and shipped for $1,200 or $1,300 off Ebay back in '03 or '04. They MUST be polished about once every 6 months or they turn yellowish and start to pit. They always look brand new after 4-6 hours of polishing. I honestly didn't notice any difference in ride quality other than the wider tires want to grab the ruts in the road.
And +1 for wanting to see pics of the ZR-1 replicas.

Are you talking about these 2009 ZR1 wheels?
Mine are chrome 18" X 91/2", +56mm. offset with 285/35ZR18 tires.
johnny6 08-31-2009, 12:37 PM Looks great :thumb: The question is does it ride as good as it looks? Those are some pretty low profiles.
benhart21 09-02-2009, 01:00 PM I think I'm definitely going to have to pick up a set of the new ZR1 wheels. Any pictures from farther away?
MILESF 09-02-2009, 02:13 PM How about this?

benhart21 09-02-2009, 02:44 PM Now those just have me sold on them. I'll have to find some that aren't chrome though.

thebeast93 09-08-2009, 04:21 AM So I bought 295/30/18 for the back and 245/35/17 for the fronts. Hopefully they will fit and if not its time for the bfh mod
Injuneer 09-08-2009, 06:28 AM They should "fit" because they are both smaller than the stock diameter tires. 25.0" in the back and 23.8" in the front (dangerously too small). The fender gap will be almost 1/2" larger in the back and 1" in the front.
Poor choices.
MILESF 09-08-2009, 02:32 PM 245/35-17?????? Don't think they make that size. Where did you find them?
What brand?

I found them at discount tire direct and they are falken's http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/findTireDetail.do?pc=18561&counter=1&ar=35&rd=17&sw=false&cs=245
Camaro350z28 09-09-2009, 03:46 PM 245/35?? thats not a lot of sidewall lol
Injuneer 09-09-2009, 08:22 PM Both the fronts and the rear have a narrow sidewall.... 3.38". That is going to provide an extremely harsh ride, and expose the rims to damage from potholes.
thebeast93 09-09-2009, 11:34 PM The rims finally got here and I will post pics tomorrow if it doesn't rail
