zr-1 wheels

Hey guys, preety new to this forum and own a 99 ss with zr1 wheels, my rears have BF drags that are 315-35-17. They are rubbing the wells. What can I put on to stop it. Will 295 fit this rim? Also the wheels are Chrome but they have the corvette flag logo center caps. Anyone kbow what the correct caps were supposed to be for chrome ss wheels?

Look at the "Wheel & Tire FAQ - General Topics" "sticky" at the top of the Wheels and Tires forum listing. There is detailed info on running the ZR1's, required modifications, and most of the pictures are my setup, with the 315/35-17 BFG DR's. They don't rub.

Key data will be what is the offset of your 17x11 ZR1 wheels? Do you have the 50mm offset or the 37.5mm offset

Not all 315's have the same actual section width. Compare a Nitto 315 DR to a BFG 315 DR, for example. The fact that there is a large variation among 4th Gens, with regard in what rubs and what doesn't rub, is also mentioned in the FAQ.

can I put a smaller tire on the rim to avoid rubbing also? my rear is a 17x11, i need to take the wheel off to check the offset but will get this number for you also

I had kumho supra 315's and no rubbing at all

Here are the specs on my wheels, rears are 50mm offsets and fronts are 56mm, what can I do to stop this rear from rubbing. Thanks

Put 295's on it instead

They will not rub if you follow the suggestions in the FAQ. Have you taken the time to read it?

Using 295's does not appear to be a "cure", unless you are looking at "competition" tires like the Kumhos or Hoosiers. I'm not aware of anyone who makes a "street" 295... but if you know of one, post a link.

You can run a 275/40-17 on an 11" wide wheel. Most manufacturers accept that. Its going to look a bit skimpy and stretched. But why run a 275 or a (possibly non-existant) 295, when a 315 will fit, without rubbing, with the proper modifications? KMook ran 335's without rubbing.

yes i did read the entire sticky on these wheels, and i have tapped in the innner wheel wells with a rubber mallet, but they still seem to rub as i take a right turn. Maybe there is something that i am missing here. I dont even want to know what will happen if i have someone in the back seat. My bump stops are already shave down on the sides also. Seems like the last owner did this already. Are they any photos of a 275 on an 11" wide wheel that i could take a look at or in the interm would one 275 be better than another. Right now they dr's that are on my rear s are bf's

Did you check the centering of the body side-to-side over the rear axle? If it isn't centered, it's going to rub more on one side than the other. You adjust it with an adjustable panhard rod.

I've also seen cases where a disconnected front sway bar will allow the body to roll enough to put the edge of the inner fender liner into the sidewall and cut it wide open. Check you front sway bar for missing/worn bushings.
