1990 Turbo Grand Prix 01-17-2003, 05:27 PM What is known, so far, on what will be at the Chicago Auto Show? As of now, I've heard of the redesigned Monte SS and Impala SS, as well as a surprise Chev product, a 600hp Ram, and GTO. I'm going and I want a heads-up before I go so I know what to look for.
luis nunez 01-17-2003, 10:24 PM I was hoping for some surprise from GM ( Camaro ) but from the latest coments by Lutz... I really don't think that a new Camaro is a priority :(
Maybe something about the next vette is:rolleyes:
GM has lost me officialy as their customer....
I will be getting a new Mustang:cool:

From what I hear, yes... it should be available as a Model Year 2004, along with the Impala SS... :)
Fbodfather 01-19-2003, 01:16 PM there is not going to be any 'surprise' at Chicago......no Camaro......

I'd imagine it to be a grouping of different SS's... (ie. Monte Carlo SS, Impala SS, Silverado SS, etc..)
Same with the Corvette salon (Coupe, Vert, Z06... other??)
and the Z71 salon (Silverado Z71, Colorado Z71, Avalanche Z71, etc etc etc...)

Maybe they are 300hp..
But I will keep my Camaro always...
sorry but atleast to me, GM let us down, BIG TIME!
"maybe in about 30 years"
maybe a SSR or maybe a trailblazer SS?
92RS shearn 01-19-2003, 10:58 PM 280 HP, 300 hp
I was at Barnes and Nobles last night reading a magazine, forget which one it was but it has the RX8, 350Z, 50th anniversaty vetteand a whole bunch of 'Higher performance' cars and they had the cobra on there with a 4.6 DOHC (4 cams) with an eaton SC that was making 390 HP and 390 ft/lbs of TQ
And it beat the 50th ann vette (which cost 15k more) by a couple tenths so for 35K a good amount of bang for the buck.
-Awaiting response from GM-
GM is flat out casting us performance customers out, and I say we go along with it. Sure, buy used Camaros and keep them forever, because they're excellent cars. But GM is a diseased car company. Either that, or they're switching to a wholly non-performance lineup. (I see no affordable sporty cars now, not even in concept form. $35K is not affordable.)
I'm pretty let down with GM ever since aug 02 when the fbody died, and about the only thing keeping up my enthusiasm right now is the GTO and rumors about concepts and future cars, etc. Pontiac's future is looking pretty bright also. One thing though: Ups and downs come and go, but I will always be a GM fan for life. PMD fan forever. You guys that don't feel a little tingle for the General.. sorry but I feel it all the time. Once you know it, no amount of incompetence on their part can take it away.
luis nunez 01-20-2003, 02:57 AM That is my point, if they really want to build
Trailblazer SS:o
SSR capable of 16's in the 1/4
and all that stuff well go ahead.. I ain't begin to them to get my money.. I always love the rivary Mustang vs. Camaro:D
But Gm back out.. because they wanted....
How many GTO they plan to sell?
and how many Fbodys they sold anually
of course the number of Fbodys is mayor:mad:
They let us down... and even most of us that at some point have try to make a message clear to them to bring back the Camaro.. and they said" Maybe in 30 years joke?"
or that they are working on it and then not?
they even can't send a clear message about the future of the Camaro:rolleyes:
Time to let go. its sad but its true
I will keep my Maro like always very clean and nice, and always proud of his history and the things that can do under 25K(1995LT1)

That is the '03 Cobra. It may be 35K in that magazine, but they are usually stickered for more than that (~37K). It is also a PIG compared to the C5, as it weighs in at around 3700lbs. The C5 is in a whole different world when it comes to build quality and other performance traits...
INTENSS 01-20-2003, 01:51 PM Especially when you compare the Cobra to the 50th Ann. Vette that has the Magnetic Ride Control. Two completely different animals. The Cobra isn't even in the same league as the Corvette.

Your right,Except for one thing. The Mustang -(Remember MUSTANG) is being held on the same performance level as a Vette,MOST guys compare cars by the 1/4 because not everyone can run @ Sears Point for gods sake. The 1/4 is a common measure that most people can relate to.So IMHO a Cobra (which "shouldnt be compared to anything but a F bod") which cost 15K less and beats a C5 in the 1/4 is something to talk about. Some (fill in blank)'s compare a Cobra to a Z06.Which in price range it went up to the 2000 Cobra R thats ok beast to beast.
I still find it so funny thats the Cobra's perfomance is put up to a Vette,I think it does good for Ford.Even though the "Tank" (03 Cobra) can just keep up the same pace as a 02 Fbody considering the Tank weighs 200lbs heavier.
SNEAKY NEIL 01-20-2003, 09:52 PM The Cobra is only about 5k less than a normal Vette and has similar numbers and about 15k for a ZO6 and gets it's doors blown off. And yes, the 2 should not even be compared, they are too different.
