Good read about how modded cars drive verse a car from the factory. I think this car has the Pedders kit on it, they were not to impressed.

They complained that the suspension was too low and that it was underdamped. Both of those aspects of the Pedders suspension are adjustable over a very wide range.
They chose the Mustang, simply because it's cheaper. But we're talking about comparing a factory Mustang with a Hennessey-modified Camaro here -- of course the Mustang was cheaper.
Stupid Edmunds. Fun articles with worthless conclusions, as always.

Ya...they're comparing a HIGHLY MODIFIED vehicle with a bone stock one.
Stupid Emunds indeed.

While I agree that the Pedders suspension is adjustable. My question is why would Pedders or Hennessey allow the car out for testing if things were not finished? Just my opinion, the Camaro should have put the Cheaper Shelby to shame in more than a drag race. I guess it goes to show how much work the factory puts into a car and that it takes longer than a few weeks for the aftermarket to improve upon it.

Realism. As I understand it Hennessey hasn't finished a car in years. ;)

Wonder why they didn't run a full 1/4 mile?
The Shelby seems to be underrated a bit... Nice!

I thought they did run a full quarter? 12.1 (HPE) vs 12.5 (GT500)
A few interesting points...
1) Mustang's live axle is good stuff on a smooth track. Better than Camaro's modded IRS setup.
2) GT 500 Mustang's tested weight > HPE Camaro's tested weight
3) GT 500 ran 91 octane fuel vs HPE high octane (as one would expect in a factory vs aftermarket comparo but GT 500 would presumably peg back some of that performance deficit if given the higher octane stuff).
4) GT 500 has an intercooler, HPE does not (ok, probably not so interesting)

?
The quarter-mile screams by in 12.1 seconds at 120.1 mph in the Hennessey Camaro and 12.5 seconds at 115.3 mph in the Mustang.
Did I miss something?
