Big mistake NOT to order a sunroof.....

Guys, just an opinion ...I know the reverse mohawk is neat but this car without a sunroof would be less enjoyable. I have been cruising around all over the place and GM did a fabulous job of keeping the well engineered A pillars that dont allow too much air in car when windows are open when driving quickly in town or up to 70 mph on hwy. Always have the windows down and roof open. The car looks nice with roof open and the roof is a good quality unit. They could of had a few more features in it (study a VW Jetta , Golf, Passat roof mechanism and you will see what I mean) but it works and the other thing I have noticed is it is a good sized hole that does not blast on hwy because deflector does a nice job but it does not rattle one iota over wicked bumps when open. My roof is open every minute I drive. The car would feel dark and enclosed without it. If you can chage your order I would....

From what I have heard/read, if your under 6' its OK...... You loose an inch or 2 for head room... :)

Really? Less headroom. Can anyone confirm this. Though I am at least a year off from getting one I was set on a sunroof, but being 6'2" if its a headroom issue then no way.

Sit in one before you buy it.

I ordered my car without the sunroof. I LOVE the look of the reverse mohawk on the car and the extra inch and a half is great for me being 6'4" tall.

I made a great choice on my car. :)

I have had sunroofs in my past three cars. I have never used one so that combined with the reduction in headroom makes a sunroof silly to me. Of course I respect everyone's opinions to build their cars the way they want too. I am happy GM is giving us a choice. So many cars these days are just coming with them as soon as you buy a higher trim level. Choices are good and everyone should make their own, unless of course you are writing the checks for all of us.

I am 6' and can't fit very well with a sunroof in this car. My hair touches the headliner which is pretty irritating. I sit in a more upright position then many so that could be a reason. I have heard guys that are much taller that seem to fit fine with the sunroof but if you are 6' or taller you should make sure you sit in a sunroof car to make sure it fits for you before you order it. There are many posts on this and the opinions vary a great deal. Heck one guy is 6' 5" and says he fits great. I don't see it but some guys recline a lot so perhaps that is the key difference.

my point again is that it is a nice roof.... even looks neat when open. There have been lots of negative comments on roof but now that I have lived with it for 3 weeks or so I think it adds a HUGE amount of appeal to the car.
Basically mine is open all the time I drive the car unless high speed on expressway....use the AéC very little but love the light and air flow that it creates from 50-120 kmhr(30-75mph) and the tilt is good for some nice fresh flow if you dont want it open in the evening or something...
Soooo glad I ordered it....
The only reason I wrote the thread is for people who are not sure on the roof or thinking of ordering without just cause of the reverse mohawk.
+1 for some love on the sunroof.
Cheers from Toronto.

This isn't the best pic, but the only one I have taken with the sunroof in view. I am 6' 2" and I fit fine, but I have my seat down pretty low. This inside of this car has a totally different feel than anything I've ever sat in. My 4th gen feels like it has more headroom maybe due to a higher roofline, but maybe that's because of the T-Tops. Personally I just like having a glass roof to let more light into the car, makes it feel less claustrophobic. I haven't sat in a car without the sunroof, so I can't say which I would prefer, or how much more headroom you get.

i had t tops in my trans am and never even took them off than much. my sunroof in my hummer is more than enough for me. its huge.i dont even open it up that much, or put the cover back. most of the time its closed. i wanted a feel like i was in a race car. and the hard top is the perfect feel for me with the camaro.

I was afraid to order the sunroof for mine because the sunroof if my Pontiac G6 rattled so darn much. I'm glad to hear the camaro's works well.

I am 6'4" and every time I drive a 5th gen with a sunroof I come out with bed-head. It makes a huge difference if you are tall, or if you have a Michael-Phelps-like disproportional torso.

I've never been one to pay extra for 'a large hole in the roof'. I'm one of those people who believe that the sunroof is just one more item that can go wrong on the car. If the install/quality is bad then it could be enough for you to sell your vehicle... low risk of that happening I know but not impossible, I'm sure.

good shot Bond 2. NO rattles at all. tight and well sealed. good light and great air coming in. It aint as well designed as a VW Audi roof but it`s very acceptable and I say again Think hard before getting the car without one. The `chop`look of the windows means not a heck of a lot of light in the car and the windflow is very well controlled because of the massive A pillars. And about things that go wrong...c`mon....that is why I bought 7yr GMPP no deductible.
Get the roof.

I with you. After all the problems with the t-tops on the 4th gens and other models/brands leaking or breaking, I'd rather not deal with it. It's just more to hassle with down the road.

Almost every car ever made where there is an optional sunroof sacrifices some headroom to accommodate the roof. In the Camaro, you lose about two inches.

If I ever buy a 5th gen, it will be without a sunroof. :metal:

I think if your larger than 6' 2", then I'd go sans sunroof. I am 6'2" and have the seat all the way down and have about 1.5" of headroom. So I guess, luckily I just fit. Occasionally on a larger bump in the road the top of my head just barely grazes the roof. Rear headroom is definitely worse than my 4th gen though, but thats no big deal as I only use the rear for kids.

I have had the opportunity to sit in both the SS Model with the sunroof and one without and in the one without, it just felt like the most comfortable and most natural feel in the world. With the sunroof, my head was touching the ceiling and although it didn't bother me too much for just sitting for 30 seconds, after a 100 miles it would prove irritating and after a 1,000 I would despise driving it. I have never felt the need for the sunroof anyways and the reverse mohawk is just plain good looking.

hot summer cruising, in a black car and roof OPEN......niiice breeze......I am 5'10 and all these space issues just are not there for me with sunroof...was checking out the full moon tonight coming home through my hole in the roof...for me I like fresh air and sunshine and less A/C which is what I would be doing if I had no sunroof....

I really think they have that sort of stuff figured out by now.

Our 2000 Bonneville has 155,000 miles on it, and the sunroof doesn't leak.

Ten years of further sunroof development, and I'm pretty confident that the seals will last longer than a lot of other parts of the car (although those have likely improved too).

I still haven't seen a larger sunroof than the one in my SRX. It is above both the first and 2nd row and it actually opens all the way. Really lets in a ton of light and makes the car feel very roomy.
