Mine is a custom chip by www.fasterproms.com and I like it. They take your mods, send you a chip you stick it in and drive it. They then have you take readings and reburn another one. After that, they take more readings and reburn. After this, you send them $500. In future if you need to reburn, it will cost you $150.

Oops. Thought it was TPI. Since it is TBI, save your money. Not that much potential in that unless you want to do something radical.

A chip in the TBI cars maeks no big improvement. I would advance the timing to 10*, and get a 160* thermostat and a lower temp fan switch. You will see the same or better with less $ spent.

TBI's aren't like TPI's you can't just run the timing up.

Problem I see with running the timing up is that now you are turning the timing up throughout. You may get a little down low but may be too high on the top.

I ran 7* advance base on my stock TBI and found that worked best. The chip is pretty worthless unless your car is moded, save your money for an open element and put the extra twards a good 3" cat back.

is this the same "custom" chip you have been pedaling for a few years now? funny how everyone with a plain old off teh shelf hypertech chip has no rev limiter, but you had yours done "custom".

simple truth is that off teh shelf chips are nto a very big help. teh timing table sare generally left stock or left so conservative that they are not much of a help and the fuel tables are too soft as well. your best bet is to look into datalogging and home burning of chips. you can get into DIY prom burning for abotu $20 more than jsut buying that one chip. thanks to self correcting software and otehr recent developments it is even fast to learn adn tune your car with out having to spend more money in shipping and stuff get a new chip every time you do a few mods.
go to www.thirdgen.org to see how it is all done. look in the tech articles and on teh DIY Prom board for all teh info you need.
