Hey guys, I've been experiencing a clunking noise when I disengage the clutch and get the car rolling in first, and second gear ( kind of sounds like a worn "U" joint ). I brought it to my dealer, and was told that this is normal for these types of drive lines ( I'm not so sure ). Has anyone else experienced this, or is your car smooth, and clunk free ?

if you have windows open you will hear it....these are big beefy transmissions that are built to handle massive torque and when you shift at slow speeds or release the clutch you may hear some sounds. I would not worry a bit. Transmission is one of the strongest components on this car.

Thanks for the reply.... I posted on several sites, and everyone seems to be on the same page. I'm going to get my exhaust modified tomorrow, so I hope it will mask it for me.... One guy also mentioned that this car now has several more "U" joints, so there's bound to be some slack in the drive line !?

I dont really buy in to that, it's a dead stock production car not a proshifted race car with a spool. My Sierra had a slight clunk in the driveline and it's only gotten worse with miles, I'll be taking it in for warranty. Your dealer just most likley hasn't seen to many yet for this so their being lazy.

If it gets any worse, I'll definitely be going in for a repair... It seems there are a few people noticing this, so I'm not alone .
My car also makes a slight clanking noise like you are experiencing. I was wondering WTF is this? At first I thought because my car had 24 miles on it when I took deliverly that someone drove it too hard! My dealer told me that sometimes they pick cars at random for testing purposes and this was probably the reason for the 24 miles. I'm taking it in for sertvice and will let you know what I find out!

Look for a TSB on it, if other people have the exact same problem, it isn't a problem with your car only. With a car this new, any issues you run in to, other cars will most likley have issues with it too.
