the attention is borderline ridiculous...

I parked at Canadian Tire the other day to run in and grab some wheel locks for my 20's and I am questioned and stared at all the way in and out of the lot including more than a dozen people around the car.
What I dislike the most are people leaning towards the car and putting their hands on my car to look inside.
But then again next year they may be as common as BMW 3's around here. .....Dont even look at those anymore....
Those who have picked up cars .... Do you like all the attention or is it a little distracting??....Guess I am not an attention seeker ...just love beautiful muscle cars...

I kinda know what you are saying. Sometimes you just want to drive without the disctactions. However...

I often gripe about celebrities who want to be famous and then complain when they cannot have a cup of coffee in public without being bothered. Well, either they want to be seen or they do not want to be seen is what it comes down to. Package deal.

You are driving one of the hottest cars in many years so you need to at least expect it once in a while. Embrace it while you can!

I am thankfully suprised that the vette doesn't attract any more attention than it does. It's kind of a quiet color (white) so that may help, but I'm glad not to draw any attention. The other day wifey and I saw our first F5 in the wild, a yellow SS, and we immediately swarmed the guy. Turned out he was the owner of a small Chevy store in north Texas, and when wifey said she wanted one, he tossed her the keys, and said to bring it back when she was ready. Now she wants to drive up an hour and a half away to buy from the guy. lol

I know what you mean... it's crazy no matter where you go... stares and people asking questions left and right.

Give it a few months and the hype will die down.

That's what happens when your driving a Celebrity around town. :) I actually don't mind it too much - it gives me an opportunity to answer questions and give more information on the Camaro.

The excitement this car is bringing is just incredible! I stopped at 7-Eleven this morning to pick up a Redbull. I come out to a guy walking around my car and checking it out from every angle. I started talking to him and he just couldn't believe how beautiful the car was. When he heard about the pricing and the gas mileage for the V6 car (even the V8 car), he couldn't believe it. He said "You can't beat that! This is the type of car every American manufacturer should be making".

I walked out to get the mail at work today, and some guy was from a building nearby was in his Jeep looking at mine in the parking lot. After chatting with him a bit, turns out he used to come here to this site for help on his WS6. :) Cool guy.

i like the attention but not when im not by the car. i noticed when i go to restaraunts that alot of people go and look at the car. i would rather they notice it while im in it drving rather than them come up to it and putthere hands on the windows to look in.

Yeah it is pretty comical. Just got mine yesterday, and I can see it out the window from my desk at work, and everybody in the business park has either come out and looked, or did a drive-by. The hands on the glass thing to look inside is a little annoying, but it is pretty funny. And I'm not much of an attention person either.

I would be very tempted to put "please don't touch" signs in it like the old guys do at the car shows.

Seriously, some people are too much. Apparently they haven't learned the "don't touch without permission" rule I learned when I was like 5. I guess if you're not a car enthusiast you don't know.....

I think thats right. If it really bothers you wait a bit. Once they are everywhere you wont have that "problem". I remember being at a car wash in 2005 and seeing for the first time a 2005 Mustang V6 (Probably driven by a salesman) and giving the guy a thumbs up. Now GT's are plenty. I think youre dead on with the 3 series analogy tho. Not exactly rare but very pretty and very nice cars :D

Don't really mind the attention, but I would certainly be upset if I see someone leaning on it or putting their hands on the window to see inside.

They guy I talked to today politely asked if he could look inside. I went in and got the keys and let him open the door. Cool dude with obvious automotive respect.

Depending on who it is determines whether or not I like it. Car people are cool to talk to. I had someone stop traffic on the interstate so he could film me pass - that was ridiculous!!! Lots of people wanting to look inside. Lots of drive by pictures. Met lost of good folks.

About ten years ago I had A talking viper alarm with a proximity sensor. If you got to close it would say "STAND BACK PROTECTED BY SECURITY SYSTEM, STAND BACK" in a deep robotic voice, LOL, It kept people away, sounds like you guys need one, it was funny watching people get back! LOL.:)

not a word of a lie....I was gonna take it last night to go get a coffee a few kms from my house and I thought to myself " Nah....dont want to take an hour for this errand because the last time I went there I could not get out of the car people were around so much"...so I took my Jetta.
But, I do remember doing it to other people when I saw nice new cars...so I guess us "car guys" are all the same....
Any other good stories??

Personally I think that viper alarm is annoying and seems cheep and ricey to be putting on a new Camaro.

I have to admit, I have followed several people in the new Camaro into parking lots and which ever, just to get a closer look at them. I never touch them and usually just give a quick hello to the driver if they are there. They all have that Camaro smile on their face!

Honestly, I wish I had one right now for the fact of all the attention that they are getting. I would be very upset though if people where coming up and touching and leaning on the car. I say; enjoy the attention well it last, because it will be a long time before you ever drive a vehicle that will get more attention then this Camaro has and is getting!!!!

when i was at a car show last weekend, there was a guy who came up to it and said" it looks like a mustang." ...now, even if you dont know jack about cars, you can clearly notice that this car does not look like a mustang. he must have been a for fan.

I've heard that said to me on more than one occasion as well. It's mostly by people who aren't "car people", but still have taken a huge interest in the Camaro.

and the stories about new camaros continue.....yesterday I stopped for a coffee and was approached by a lady as I was going in the shop: "Is that black car a new Porsche"?? I am NOT kidding.....I could not stop howling....

what would even give the lady the slightest clue that it might be a porsche? i dont understand some people. even if you dont know what your talking about, it shocks me, the things that come out of people mouth.

Hi everyone. New to the board.
I placed my order in Feb for IBM SS2 and have not received it yet. Last weekend I couldn't wait any longer so I rented an LT2.
Eveywhere I went people came to see the car. For me, it was enjoyable talking to everyone. It certainly brought out the best in people.

This afternoon I found out that my order never went through and I would have to start all over with the order process. This evening I found a dealer that has the IBM SS2 RS enroute and placed the order with them.

How can you not love attention and drive a Camaro? These cars just bleed "attention whore"

My Z28 gets a boatload of attention everywhere I go and I love it, yes I admit I may be a bit of a showoff but there is nothing like knowing people love and respect your car. Makes you feel good!

I can only imagine if I had a 2010 SS

One cool thing was the first day I got it, me and my buddy went straight to Hooters from the dealership. He was driving his KR, I was driving the SS. My car got all the attention. Several of the Hooters girls wanted to go for a ride. One even made an "x-rated" offer. It was really cool, especially for a 39 year old.

I have a 92 Camaro with a nice paint job but nothing special, and I still get people looking in my car or leaning on my car when I go into a store at times.

I guess it just comes with the territory
