Longtubes in NJ

I did a search, but could not find answers, so I have to ask. I keep getting conflicting answers from people I know. Are longtube headers emissions legal in NJ? I'm looking to get headers (Hooker or SLP's) but I need to know this first.

Thanks for any help,
Keith

Hooker LT's are NOT emissions legal in NJ due to the fact that they A) eleminate AIR and EGR fittings and B) they relocate the cat. Find a private shop and an extra Ben Franklin. SLP, Hooker Shorties, and my Fav AZ Speed & Marine are all good to go though.

They are 100% not legal for the reasons mentioned above. There are people who have them including myself... but they are illegal for street use.

Alright, thanks guys that what I thought...I imagine the Hooker Super Comps emission legal version would do the trick, right?

So basically you guys pass the actual testing, but not the visual. Do all shops even check if you just pass emissions?

I personally would'nt go with the hooker shorties cause they're only 1 5/8 primary headers. Go with SLP, AZ Speen & Marine, or Mac's in a pinch. AZ's are said to make the most power, I know I love them.

As for the visual, when I had my car done at a state facility, they did'nt even pop the hood. However, I don't know if lt's would pass, but they WON"T pass a visual.

Fastbird: So you passed inspection with no problem with the AZ S&M's? What is the part number for those so I can look them up? By the way, how much did you pay for them?

Thanks,
Keith
