Which front end is lighter?

I have a 78 Camaro Z/28 rotten to hell and I'm starting work on it now. I can get a deal on a good condition complete 1970 front end, so it would be less work to just put a 1970 front end on the 78 rather than fix all the rot. Which front end do you think would be lighter though? This is a track car build so I'm trying to make the front end light as possible.

I'm going to say that the 78 front end will be lighter but not buy too much.
If your using the car for the 1/4 mile I'm sure there is a bumper behind the front cover you can take out to make it lighter.
I'm just not sure if it's metal or just a plastic piece.
