Is it true LS engines get quicker after a few thousand miles?

My friend just took his new Z06 to the track and only went 12.16@122.05.
I didn`t think that was too bad for the first try (no track prep and 505hp.
are not a good mix).He was just a little upset because most Z06 cars trap
around 125.I thought I read one time that the LS motors run a little faster
after a few 1000 miles and was wondering if that was true?

My experience from driving quite a few green Gen IVs has been that they generally pick up a noticeable amount of power after a few thousand miles.

He probably just spun too much and lost MPH. 122 is still insanely fast, though, for a factory car.

That ET and MPH shows either extremely poor track conditions, or someone who simply cannot drive to save their life. Most Corvette guys think they can drive, but have no clue what their doing and the car's performance shows it. Trap speed is a good indicator of power aside from chassis setup and traction, but you would be surprised how much it can vary with different driving abilities!

With more practice that car should be able to pick up another half second at least and 2-3 more MPH.

My LS1 actually seemed to get faster all the way up to 60K

back before my LS1 spun a bearing, I was spanking people who I should not have been beating, like stalled and small cammed mustangs and z28's. It had 90k miles and ran GREAT.

Once its broken in it will have a bit more power. Plus once he gets used to driving it at the track more he will go faster. A 12.14 is still not exactly slow for a first time out.
