Do i need to pay dealer labor prices to R&R the fuel pump? Or will most independant shops charge a lot less? I know the rear axle has to drop to drop the tank and the tank has to drop to get the pump out. I already have an OEM pump ready.

How much in labor to R&R?

I want to say a local shop replaced a friend of mines pump for about $200-250. This shop works almost solely on LTx and LSx cars so they had done it several times before. Make sure the shop you use knows these cars....and don't assume the dealer knows them either, I wouldn't let a dealer do anything since the cost is usually unreasonable.
I changed my pump myself, wasn't too bad, I hung the rear axle from cables tied around the holes in the underside of the body/frame, that way I didn't have to disconnect the brake lines and infact left the lower CAs connected.
I made a post about this some time ago, but I think the pics fell off when aol quit hosting, I'll see if I can dig them up and repost.

Thats what I did, now fuel pump change takes 15 min:cool:... If not, it is kind of a job... Probably 250-600 I would guess, but I cant afford to have people work on my car..
