Darth Xed 05-04-2009, 08:20 AM The Inferno Orange RS/SS my CFO ordered came in late last week, and he brought it over this weekend.... threw me the keys and sent me on a coffee run I was never more happy to make.
I drove a total of 10 miles maybe from the house to McDonald's and back, and I think EVERYONE was doing something when they saw the car.
Some guy in a Ford Explorer passing me in the opposite direction on my road just about fell out of his car at 45mph as he leaned out the window with a HUGE grin and pumping his fist up and down and giving the thumbs up.
Countless people pointing and rubbernecking.
Several honks and thumbs up.
I noticed a lot of cars swerving slightly as I passed, must have distracted them. :o
I actually had one guy pull off the road in front of me, then get back in behind me after letting me pass, must have wanted to see the back too, I guess.
At McD's, some nice people in a Silverado were asking me about the car... said "Is that the first new Camaro?!?!?!?"
I have to tell you, I felt like a damn rock star in this thing.
shock6906 05-04-2009, 08:23 AM I want one. :(
JasonD 05-04-2009, 08:31 AM Get pics!
Where are the pics :D
The car defiantly stands out. This will be a huge hit for Chevy.
Darth Xed 05-04-2009, 09:18 AM I did take a few pictures, I'll try to get the off the camera ASAP... looks like an orange RS/SS though. :p :D

Drive was VERY smooth... and I went over some road construction too, so it was a bit rough, I expected it to be a bit more harsh, especially in an SS... but it was very nice.
It didnt feel "fat in the ass" like my 04 GTO did... power was smooth and seemless. (Car is a 6-speed)
Leg room was perfect, and I am 6'3" or so, and have long legs.
The interior was very comfortable. It was an all-black leather interior. Seats were great. Not sure how I feel about the dash. It wasn't as bad as I thought it could be, but it was still..... I dunno... a little odd, I guess, but it wasn't a put-off.
There's a bit of a bad blind spot, I noticed though...
The exhaust note was very nice and also louder and more aggressive then I expected for a factory system. Thumbs up for this as well.
On a side note...I didn't realize the SS scoop on the front was a fake scoop before.
bossco 05-04-2009, 11:44 AM How was the view out of the windshield, I keep reading that its like looking through a slot (figuratively of course)?
and hows the view over the hood? I know when I got my 02 GT the scoop drove me crazy for awhile until I learned to ignore it and when I got my 07 GT the long flat nose createda few close shaves when parking up to a wall or barrier?

Nothing struck me as odd at all... was a non-existant issue to me.

I remember beign able to see a bit of the oraneg paint over the hood looking out, but again, nothing seemed odd, or awkward at all.
:)
Eric77TA 05-04-2009, 12:15 PM ... power was smooth and seamless. (Car is a 6-speed)
Um, aren't they all? ;)
Chuck! 05-04-2009, 01:08 PM I have a bad feeling about my wallet once I start to see these on the street :(
Darth Xed 05-04-2009, 01:22 PM Um, aren't they all? ;)
lol. Ya, I suppose to a degree every car today is, but I would actually say there is some not-so-smooth power delivery in some modern cars with an automatic transmission. In fact, that's one thing I actually dislike about autos with 6 or 7 gears... feels like they are shifting way to much, IMO.

Nope, drive a BMW M3 with the high revving 3.2L

I am pretty sure he was referring to that all 5th Gens are 6 speeds ;) . Some auto some manual, but all 6spds :D .
Glad you enjoyed the drive, I can't wait untill I get a chance  .

Oh, ya, LMAO... that went over my head twice. :death:
FWIW, it was an M6, not an A6... ;)
Silverado C-10 05-04-2009, 02:13 PM Local Dealer still doesn't have one. The only other Chevy dealership close by went under a month ago. The Ford dealer across the street has one 2010 GT and one V-6 car. Can't wait to see the Camaro up close too!

I think he was referring to the (It's a 6 speed.) part. ;)
