I was thinking... is it possible to use a turbo wastegate on a supercharged setup?

I was driving one day and just thought about how turbos have adjustable boost. Doesn't a waste gate just limit the amount of air pressure the turbo is making? Could it be adapted to a supercharged system so that with a 15# pulley you could run any amount of boost you want up to 15? Its just a thought, if I'm completely wrong please break it to me easy.

yes it can be done. i did it on a friends mustang, but you will get alot of parasitic loss because it will take more power to turn the blower with a 15# pully rather than an 8 or 10# pulley

Sorry, it won't work in a supercharged application. The waste gate is not a popoff valve that relieves boost pressure, it bleeds off exhaust gas so that the turbocharger is not driven as fast and therefore limits the amount of boost that is produced. It would be equivalent to having a device that would let the drive belt slip in a supercharger when a certain boost level is reached.

that is deltagate type, i used a boost controller sorry for the confusion but i think he wanted to adjust boost without changing pullies, it can be done.
