ChrisFrez 04-30-2009, 06:09 AM The wait will finally be over! My 2010 Camaro SS should be in today. I honestly had trouble sleeping last night thinking about taking delivery of this car. It's been such a loooong time coming, but worth every second of the wait.
I'll be sure to capture the entire process completely with the help of Jason! I'm planning on sending up pictures from my iPhone to my Flickr page at http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrisfrez.
:metal:
WhiteHawk 04-30-2009, 06:23 AM Congrats Chris! Can't wait to see the pics.

2010_5thgen 04-30-2009, 08:08 AM dont worry about posting pictures yet. go enjoy the car! congrats. im jelious.
ChrisFrez 04-30-2009, 09:28 AM Well, doesn't sound like i'll be getting it today either. :( I've waited this long, I guess waiting a little longer isn't going to kill me. Received an e-mail from my salesperson this morning, jtrott -
I found out why your car isn’t here. They sent it out to the up fitter
for the stripes. They are done in a different plant. It was put on a
railcar today. So we still have a little while.
IOMega 04-30-2009, 09:31 AM Doh! Ah well what's a few more sleepless nights ;) So stripes are never done directly at the oshawa plant?
ChrisFrez 04-30-2009, 09:42 AM Doh! Ah well what's a few more sleepless nights ;) So stripes are never done directly at the oshawa plant?
I guess not.
2010_5thgen 04-30-2009, 10:15 AM that sucks. so what maybe next week this time?
Capn Pete 04-30-2009, 01:34 PM So stripes are never done directly at the oshawa plant?
They're done at a facility ~5 minutes down the road.
What colour scheme is your car supposed to be, Chris? I saw a virtual "twin" to my car yesterday ... black w/graphite stripes ... looked AMAZING!!!  I also saw a black w/white stripes car very quickly going the other way ... I definitely prefer the graphite stripes .
I've also seen the IOM w/white stripes in person, and love it too (it looks strikingly similar to my Dad's '73 Camaro ;)).
ChrisFrez 04-30-2009, 01:37 PM Mine will be a Black car with the cyber gray stripes. :)

Well, that's EXACTLY what I saw going the opposite direction yesterday! :D Dude, it looked amazing . I'm actually picking my '02 up today from being repainted, and instead of the light silver vinyl stripes I've had on the car for ~6 years, I had them painted a deeper silver ... and they truly look very similar to the Cyber Grey stripes of the new Camaro :thumb:.

Sweet! Maybe that was my car then. :) Shouldn't take long to get to Detroit - it's only a 4-5 hour drive.

If you don't mind having ~300 miles on the odometer, I could drive it down there for you to make sure it's well "taken care of" on its journey ;). You never know how those crazy car hauler guys will treat them!!! I would make sure the motor never goes below above 3000 RPM and that speeds stay above below 60 mph :).
... and don't mind the sticky seat ... someone on the line must have, um, "sneezed" on it! :p
WhiteHawk 04-30-2009, 04:33 PM I saw three carrier loads on I-94 today while driving to Port Huron. Shouldn't be long.

We did both find that funny when we were talking about what we were planning on ordering, that they were inverse of each other. Except for the transmission...but even that changed to be opposites.
But now...CGM, yes. Black stripes, not for sure yet.

Did you decide to get the 6 sp. auto?
Off-topic...anymore die-casts in the works?
JasonD 04-30-2009, 08:02 PM Did you decide to get the 6 sp. auto?
Yes, changing my order is what delayed mine quite a bit.
Off-topic...anymore die-casts in the works?
Possibly. :)
99SilverSS 04-30-2009, 09:08 PM Possibly. :)
Are they going to look anything like your avitar?
prophet33 04-30-2009, 09:18 PM i like the rims in his avatar wish i knew what they were n throw some lowering springs on it would look nice
Shellhead 04-30-2009, 09:26 PM I love the pinstripes on Jason's Avatar! They're classier than the thicker stripes.
HuJass 04-30-2009, 10:15 PM Chris,
They're putting your car on a train?
How far are you from Oshawa?
I would guess it would be about a 5 hour drive. I would have thought it would come by truck.
Well if it is on a train, make sure to get your railcar number.
ChrisFrez 04-30-2009, 10:16 PM I honestly don't know how they are coming from Oshawa to Detroit. It is only about a 5 hour drive.

I see lots of carriers heading west-bound everyday . I can't imagine they'd put them on trains for such a relatively "short" distance. They'd probably take more than the ~5hr drive just loading a whole train up with cars!! I'm sure there's a "line in the sand" somewhere that they truck to a certain point, then train beyond.

Or solicit a local to drive it to him for that personal delivery.
firehawk2003 04-30-2009, 11:42 PM Hope you get it soon Chris we would love to see some pics of that. Hopefully you can hook it up with some videos!:burnout:
HuJass 05-01-2009, 05:45 AM I've read that if the trip is more than 250 miles, it goes by train. Otherwise, it goes by truck.

Huh, and Oshawa to Detroit is around ~265 - 270 miles, so just over the 250 mile mark ;).

SWEET.........Let me know if there are any more coming out, would like to get one of those!

I thought the color delayed your car? Something about it not being ready until later this summer?
camaroguy579 05-01-2009, 12:39 PM Congrats man. Can't wait to see you with it.
Seems like we just keep saying, 'We've waited this long I guess I can wait a little longer.' lol
bryan2230 05-01-2009, 01:24 PM I thought the color delayed your car? Something about it not being ready until later this summer?
I live about 15 miles from Tom Henry Chevrolet, which i believe is where Jason ordered his. I think they already have a Cyber Grey Metallic in the showroom, along with their IOM/IOM Interior. I was wondering if it was Jason's I guess maybe not.
I think the dealership owns the IOM/IOM Interior, although I dont know for sure. I'm thinking it might be the first "Tom Henry Racing" Camaro.
EDIT: I stopped today (Saturday), it wasnt a CGM Camaro. It was a similar color Vette. I was a bit bummed out.
Wingboy_97 05-01-2009, 01:46 PM Congrats Chris. It is down now to days instead of months and years for you. No matter what color it may be ;).
Also, you and Jason willbe flying high with your new Camaro. When some of use still have to wait .
JasonD 05-01-2009, 03:08 PM I thought the color delayed your car? Something about it not being ready until later this summer?
Yes, the CGM color was delayed, but I would have had it sooner than I will if I hadn't changed my transmission order.
detroitboy 05-22-2009, 05:35 PM Chris....did you get your car yet? When they told me that mine was in quality control for the battery cable replace I figured yours and mine would be months away at the rate GM was fixing such problems. And with maybe 5000? to be fixed I did'nt want to lose another summer, so I found a great deal on an VERY lightly used (580 miles) 08 GT500 convertible locally. John and Sue had no problem finding another buyer for mine when I cancelled my order. I'll live the the supercharged convertible beast for a couple years and then hopefully get into a Camaro again when the convertible comes out.
Per my man in the shop....my ordered/cancelled/resold car has still not come in. Lots of them on haulers going westbound on M59 (to area 51 in Pontiac I assume)
ChrisFrez 05-22-2009, 10:51 PM I'm still waiting for mine - still in Oshawa. Hopefully this coming week it'll be in.
