fuel smell

hey i am smelling fuel by my driver side rear tire. Is there any lines etc that are by there. Thanks

The fuel lines run directly by that area. You fuel filter is there too.

hey thanks im thinkin its a bad line because i can smell it not much but its there even when the car is parked.

A stronger possibility is the charcoal canister for the Evap emission system which is behind a closeout panel in the back of DS rear wheel well. This is a fairly common issue and pretty easy to access. HTH

There's no "door" for the canister. You jack up the drivers side rear, remove the rear wheel, and there is a plastic panel in the fender liner held on by screws. Can't miss it - everything else is metal.

A common cause of the problem is rotted rubber lines between the tank and the canister. Problem is, the lines are sandwiched between the tank and the body, making them hard to access. You may also have liquid fuel in the canister, from over-filling the tank. Or, your EVAP purge system (solenoid on the passenger side of the intake manifold) may be plugged with carbon particles and not purging the fuel vapor from the canister.
