reusing a stall converter

so I talked to a mechanic today... and told him about my tranny slipping and such... he told me that I should definitely not reuse my stall converter after I get the tranny rebuilt... it's an ACC 3200 stall with double antiballooning plates rated for roughly 900HP for my 4L60e... I only put 40 miles on the car since the build and since this stall was put on

he told me that all the little pieces from the tranny are now in the stall and the only way to clear it out is to take it apart and rebuild it, he also said that there is no real other good way to flush it and the particles would flow back into my new tranny

so my question is... can I reuse my converter that I just paid over $500 for and only put 40 miles on?

Uf the transmission pan has contamination in it, so does the converter. It's never a good idea to reuse a converter after a transmission failure.

If it's a good converter, it's worth sending back to the manufacturer to be opened up and rebuilt. Usually costs $100-150.
