2 step w/ 4l60e?reamo04 04-23-2009, 10:55 PM Wondering if anybody is running a 2 step w/ their 4l60e? AL SS590 M6 04-24-2009, 07:16 AM I have in the past. What is your concern? All a 2 step does is to limit launch rpm. reamo04 04-24-2009, 10:38 AM I have in the past. What is your concern? All a 2 step does is to limit launch rpm. I need one to build boost on the line, was just wondering if anybody ran one. Were you running an MSD? mdacton 04-24-2009, 11:38 AM how do you do it without a t-brake? reamo04 04-24-2009, 11:01 PM how do you do it without a t-brake? if you woulda read taht link i sent ya yesterday instead of just saying "not my cup of tea" you would know :p same was a 6 speed car builds boost with a 2-step mdacton 04-24-2009, 11:23 PM boost or not, how do you use a 2 step without a tbrake on an auto? reamo04 04-25-2009, 12:15 AM boost or not, how do you use a 2 step without a tbrake on an auto? well, im not an expert on it, but you wire it up so that when your brake pedal is depressed fully, the 2-step is engaged. So while the brake is all the way depressed and the 2-step is engaged, u are free to get on the gas, bringing it to the 2-step limiter as long as your stall is high enough, and your brakes will hold. Exactly which allows you to limit rpms with the throttle blades wide open which allows a turbo car to build some boost, only up to what the brakes will hold but that's way more than with the throttle closed. mdacton 04-25-2009, 08:23 AM I just don't see this working at all....... will it not load and unload the chassis constantly on the limiter? I just see this turning out badly... s_willis 04-25-2009, 09:18 AM I just don't see this working at all....... will it not load and unload the chassis constantly on the limiter? I just see this turning out badly... I run one on mine. So far the chassis can't react as fast as the 2 step does as far as load/unload. For a turbo w/auto maybe a T-Brake would be a better choice though. It would allow him to build boost faster. reamo04 04-25-2009, 12:37 PM I run one on mine. It would allow him to build boost faster. except im not spending $600 for a rossler t-brake for a 4l60e. I refuse to get rid of my overdrive, therefore the 4l60e or a 4l80e will always be in place unless i swap in a 6 speed. AL SS590 M6 04-26-2009, 07:26 AM I just don't see this working at all....... will it not load and unload the chassis constantly on the limiter? I just see this turning out badly... How is anything going to unload. For example with a 3500 stall and the limiter set at 2800 with your foot planted on the floor and the rpm constant at say 2800, at least with a Harlan 2 step it is constant, how does it unload? Kevin Blown 95 TA 04-26-2009, 07:41 AM It will work to get him spooled but not for shocking the chassis and tires to get that hard bite you're looking for on the launch. It's been tough dealing with these transmissions all these years just to have the overdrive and get reasonable mileage on a street/strip car. Wonder how it's going to be for the guys with the 6 speeds. AL SS590 M6 04-27-2009, 08:15 AM It will work to get him spooled but not for shocking the chassis and tires to get that hard bite you're looking for on the launch. As far as I know you don't have to shock a chassis to get the tires to hook. Maybe my car is too slow but I brake torque to 2500rpm and dead hook drag radials, pulling the tires about 8'', and get high 1.4 to low 1.5 sixties. No shocking involved. camaro81 04-27-2009, 09:58 AM boost or not, how do you use a 2 step without a tbrake on an auto? People have used a 4 wheel line lock setup with a 2 step without any problems, though I've been told it doesn't release as consistantly as a transbrake. I meant more of hitting the tires hard or rather not having them loaded up like you would with just a front line lock or stronger front brakes with the backs trying to spin. What are you doing to keep it from spinning or going forward? Really loose converter? And are you saying it is slow but it lifts the front up 8"? NVM - I looked back and figured you had a 3500 and were bring it to 2800 on the limiter. reamo04 05-02-2009, 02:34 AM well guys, ended up buying a th350 today, so, 4l60e will go bye-bye. Now time to get started on a rebuild, full manual, t-brake, and a stall.... I know what im doing tomorrow | ||
