So does the ambient lighting do anything special on startup?

Awesome! Now we need to wait to see the Inferno Orange Accent lighting! Damn, now that I've decided on waiting for IOM stripes on White when avaliable, I'm getting torn between interiors!

Remember that most video cameras don't perform well at low light recording. Or, he had it dimmed down and didn't know it. I myself wouldn't want it too bright, anyway.

They do sell the footwell ambient lighting as an accessory that you can purchase.

I know when Camaro Scotty showed us the accessory catalog with prices it showed the footweel lighting as an accessory with a picture. I think it was something like $350. It appeared to be a roll of ligh tubing that I would assume would plug into the footwell light sockets and the tubing would clip underneath the bottom of the dash where the current bulbs are located.

its a tube? liek a neon tube? eehhhhh...i dont know about that. sounds kinda ricey. id have to see if though. if it were totally hiden out of the way and it didnt light up the entire car while it was on, it might work.

From what I gather it would be totally hidden and only provide a small amount of light, that is basically what ambient lighting is, just a subtle amount of light in the footwell area. I am guessing that it would be available in either the blue or the orange colors to match the ABL in the door or even the dash lighting.

I just went back and checked on Newman Chevrolets parts section on their website. This is what the ABL footwell lighting is. I thought it was a tube, but it appears to be just 2 harness/plug-in type of lighting attached to wire about 12 inches long. It probably just plugs into the existing footwell bulb sockets and clips up underneath in the footwell. It might actually be pretty cool, but $200 is kind of pricey. It might be just as nice to replace the incandescent bulbs in the footwell with a white or blue LED bulb! here is the link...

That's not ambient lighting....My CTS has ambient lighting, and it lights up the whole floor of the car from front to back.

I love the new Camaro, but a strip of light does not equal ambient lighting.

Maybe I just remember wrong but in the concept video the light "ran" across the dash upon startup. I know the ambient lighting across the dash didn't end up happening but I was wondering if there was still any remnant of the lighting running along the door panel or something. If it just comes on then what is so cool about the ambient lighting? Wasn't the ambient lighting what Scott was talking about a while back when he said the car did something really cool on startup?

Thats how it should be. Too bright and it'd be hard to see outside the car at night.

Yea at some point it gets silly. Some people sound like they want club lighting in their cars  What would be nice tho is if they added a switch to adjust ambient lighting brightness. Maybe when/if they add ambient lighting to the dash they can consider this.

the only way to adjust the ambient lighting now is to dim the dash lights with it right?

I would assume that the ambient lighting is tied in with the rest of teh interior lighting.

To be honest, its cool but Im not a fan. What I am upset about is that you have to get the 2LT/2SS in order to get the USB connection.
I wish it was tied in with the BA stereo, not a trim level.

thats how they get that money. if you want one thing , you gotta splurge for the next trim level. its just business

I thought you could get the USB connection on 1LT/1SS by selecting the Convenience and Connectivity package.

Yes the ambient lighting dims with the rest of the dash lighting.
The lights on the door aren't that bright to start with.
I turned my dash light down just a little and that was perfect for me.
I really love the lights inside.
I don't really think it needs the optional footwell lighting.
I do wish the ambient lighting was across the dash also.
I think that would just complete the look they were going for.
If they have it in later cars I will get it added.
Otherwise I'm very happy and you guys will love it too.
None of the videos or pictures do it justice, it really is nice inside this car.

Thank you. I personally think the ambient lighting across the dash would be a distraction to driving at night since you're staring straight into it basically at night. Can't wait to get my orange ambient lights!
