EnFuegoZ28 04-21-2009, 11:51 AM Will a T-handle from a TA work on a Camaro? What is needed to do the swap? Is it pretty easy to remove the old one from the Z28?
Mine is pretty worn out so I am looking at some options.
Thanks
The Captain 04-21-2009, 02:33 PM Yes, its a direct replacement. Remove the U clip from the front of the shifter and it just pulls off. Put the T handle in place and put the clip back in.
I just bought one of these, been looking all over for one with the finger grips:

Thats the exact one I'm getting. Do I just remove the U clip with needle nose pliars??

 then it just slides off.
Hal Fisher 04-22-2009, 12:03 PM Easier to just use a small screwdriver blade then a pliers to remove the clip. Much nicer than the button on top and looks better too.

Yours will definately be there before I get mine.
If you ever get sick of that look you can try this:

Just an aftermarket shifter with an adaptor to use on automatics. You simply push down on the shifter to shift. Shortened the handle a bit.
The Captain 04-22-2009, 10:49 PM ^^ I checked in to getting that adapter, too expensive. I do plan on shortening mine though :thumb:

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for it??

It all depends on where you go. I know that the MBA ones are ridiculous in price. I was fortunate enough to be at Pep Boys one day and there was this aftermarket kit for the shifter and pedals for only $9.90. It also included a keychain (not important) and four stainless tire valve caps (very nice). The handle came with the adapter so I did not buy anything additional. The pedals are pretty sweet looking also. I'll post some pics later.

$30 shipped. There are a few more on there for slightly less, but its an auction and not buy it now.

Well, since you can't get the Z28 running right, why don't you just give me your T56 and I'll get a really cool shifter. :kekeke:

I think I am going to save myself the trouble and just buy another Z28 or TA with a factory 6 speed. As soon as I get a good paying job I will be on the search. Cant have too many fbodys

Yea, but then you'd have to sacrifice consistent times, ...
A4, ..., Punch it & steer, ..., no fighting for gears, ...
EnFuegoZ28 05-21-2009, 10:44 AM OK back TTT. Captain if you could chime in I would appreciate it. I attempted to remove my old shifter and put on the T handle. I removed the U pin and my shifter isn't cooperating. It won't budge at all. I couldn't pull it off to save my life. What am I doing wrong?
I thought it was supposed to pull right off?
The Captain 05-21-2009, 06:03 PM Did you take the U pin all the way out? Its got to be completley removed for it to come off. After that it just pulls right off. Mine wasnt hard to pull off at all. Put your ebrake on and put the car in drive, that way you can pull it straight up.

Yeah I took the pin all the way out. I had it in gear and tried to pull it off and nothing. It won't budge.
My car hates me. :(
The Captain 05-23-2009, 10:05 PM try wiggling it back and forth. Hell, stand over top of it and pull like a mofo, it WILL come off.
