Personally I enjoy most of their cars and the brands they have so this doesn't bother me at all. Unlike Toyota who has nothing in the lineup that looks even remotely interesting to me.

I've mentioned this before, but here it is again -- I think this is just one of many power-plays in the automotive market that we're about to witness. I think the #1 spot will change a few times in the coming months and years.
That said, I'm smiling because I DO enjoy VW's, but I do feel a little bit guilty that it's not a stars-and-stripes company at the helm. If GM can get their product lineup up to snuff and compete with the best globally, I have no doubt they'll take the #1 spot back.

I'm sure VW has other good brands, but VW's themselves are trash. We get them in the shop often, Jettas and the like, and not one has come in from mid 90's-current that wasn't falling apart, or running like ****. Sometimes it makes it difficult to do the job - IE: sunroofs that don't close, glovebox doors that have fallen off so when the car comes in, it's dead before we start working on it. And that's just my professional experience with them.
I don't get what people see in them. Friends and family have had similar experience with them, including electrical gremlins!

I like VW's, but not enough to go out and buy one. If i were to buy one, it'd be a Jetta diesel.
