eclipsefloyd 04-13-2009, 01:01 AM Was just pricing a LS and LT1 camaro...noticed in the options it says nothing about the 4-pack cluster gauges that are console mounted in front of the shifter...but in the LT2 and SS models its an included option...my question is has anyone seen what the car looks like without them...is there just a dummy plastic cover where the gauges should be...wonder if I can get the gauges as an add-on to the LT1?
Jason Dove 04-13-2009, 01:09 AM Has a tray in that location instead, doesn't come up like the gauges do. Search around, there's photos of it out there.

What use does the button located directly in front of the transmission temp gauge serve?
Rob V 04-17-2009, 11:17 PM On the left is the traction control button, on the right is the flip-up cover to your auxiliary 12 volt.

Thanks!
Another question:
Is that the door lock/unlock button between the HVAC controls?
Rob V 04-17-2009, 11:51 PM I actually didn't fiddle with that button when I was playing around in the car, but if I recall, the only switches on the doors are the ones for the windows, so I'm going to assume so.
MetalDragon 04-18-2009, 12:37 AM Yes, and the hazzard flasher button is just above that. Trunk release and windows are on the doors.
There's a kind of quick start guide running around here somewhere, but I'm at work and our firewall isn't cooperating tonight. I'm doing good to log on.
jsipe 04-28-2009, 08:04 PM Can I add the gauge cluster on my 1SS?
MetalDragon 04-28-2009, 10:06 PM Don't see why not. I've seen them listed as a dealer accessory. I imagine there's a harness behind the dash somewhere.
ImportedRoomate 04-28-2009, 11:12 PM What use does the button located directly in front of the transmission temp gauge serve?
Its the burnout button. Push it and it lets you do burnouts. The little picture says so. :p
MetalDragon 04-29-2009, 06:15 AM That's great... :burnout:
jsipe 04-29-2009, 09:27 PM thanks metal.......made my day
Camarolina 05-03-2009, 06:04 PM I have a question. If you get a trim that does not include the 4-pack of gauges them you just don't get to know your oil pressure and volts? I guess I can go without knowing the oil and tranny temps but whats up? Do we atleast get an idiot light for the other two?
ImportedRoomate 05-03-2009, 08:57 PM Yes you will get an idiot light for all that. Most cars today don't come with oil pressure or volts gauges anymore.
Char1ieone 05-06-2009, 07:34 PM ahhhhhhh I remember those days when I drove o POS celbrity that had the dummy light from my engine temp. And it was so kind enough to infrom me when my car was overheating just in time for it to reach 250. Thanks dummy lights!!!! :irk:
OutsiderIROC-Z 05-11-2009, 01:52 PM Beats me why anyone would want the Camaro without the console gauges... Dummy lights describes perfectly those that they are for, DUMMIES.
jsipe 05-12-2009, 09:33 PM I had a budget ($30,000.00) and had to go over a little for the V8. The 1SS did not offer the cluster guages as an option. I went to dealer today and was told that I could add it after delivery. I'm at 3400 so I should have VIN soon. Ordered 10-30-2008.

Did he say how much it would cost?
jsipe 05-14-2009, 10:33 PM They did not know. I' thinking under $200.00. It just replaces they tray and should already have the harness.

Thats not to bad. The difference between the 1SS and the 2SS that I would want is about $3000. But there are only five things I would want of the 2SS not offered in the 1SS and the four-pack of guages is number one on the list. Leather seats, steering wheel mounted audio controls, the 9 speaker/245 watt system and the USB port are the others. The rest I can live without.
Are those worth $3000? Keep in mind it probably has a real decent sound system, reaching for the radio isn't so bad and leather seats are sweet but not always practical. I just have to have the V8, thats all.
Chrisz24 05-15-2009, 08:25 AM You may want to skip the dealer added gauges and wait a bit, I'm confident it will become an easy to find item in a short wile for quite a bit less.
jsipe 05-18-2009, 07:41 PM I was told the guages are already offered. Don't quote me on the price. It's plastic guages and the harness is already included in all the Camaros. Looks like the tray comes out and the guages replace that area. I'll let you know. Mine is suppose to be here soon.
1SS added upgraded stereo, polished wheels and extra cost paint. ordered 10-30-2008

RKHiPerformance 05-21-2009, 02:26 PM Do the 2SS six-speed cars get a trans temp gauge as the fourth gauge in the console?
I thought monitoring transmission temperature was generally for automatics.
Leolee 05-21-2009, 08:06 PM i love the gauges, idk y some people dont?
jsipe 05-31-2009, 09:55 PM Go to gmaccessory.com. It has the part numbers for the guage console, price has not been disclosed yet.
CamaroScotty 06-17-2009, 06:24 AM The 1SS is considered a "Stripped" race ready car....without all the goodies...
The gauges come with a new top console plate. They plug into wiring already there, BUT need to be activated with a GM tool... And the 1LS cannot get the gauges, only the 1LT and 1SS can have them added.
Here are the various part numbers:
IN THE USA, we have 3 - 4 pack gauge part numbers, AS FOLLOWS:
PART #92228153 3.6 6 speed manual trans
PART #92228165 6.2 (LS3) 6-spped Manual trans
PART #92228166 3.6 Auto and L99 Auto
the automatic use the same gauge pack, regardless of V6 or V8

jsipe 07-07-2009, 09:47 PM The guages for the automatic are now available. COST: $560.00. Installation is extra. I'm sure the manuals will be the same or close.
