Pretty soon I am about to drop about a grand into my car. I wanted the n20 because of more bang per buck, but I'm not sure anymore. Last night I was my cell coming back from tower shops(a lot of hod rods and vendors gathering at a huge parking lot) and some M3 was rolling next to me ..well about a half a car length in front on my left and he started to come in my lane, so like a true hot head I floored it while in 4th from a 95 roll and to my shock he gunned it too!!! It was on after that and we were dead even. After the first run he gave me thumbs up and I was like to myself...he's giving me respect for hanging with him, but I'm like totally disappointed that I didn't pass him. We then did another run and dead even again. I mean we rolled twice from 95 to 130 and dead even. I then said f%^ it and gave him his props. I new M3s were fast, but dam!! I immediately called a friend who told me if he recalls those new m3s are at about 330 and that's what I figure I am at ..check sig and you tell me what you think. But anyway the fact I was on my cell tells me if I had nitrous I would have had to hit two switches then ride out, but if I had all throttle I would have just need to hit the gas. Now maybe with the n20 I would have had a slower reaction time because of the extra two steps(switch 1 to activate then 2 to open bottle), maybe I would have overkilled him, but with all throttle I think responding just a little faster would have gave me the same outcome. Now keep in my I'm referring to 60hp NA vs 100 shot . If I can get 60 horses for a grand or less let me know your ideas. I went to a shop called Murrays speed shop and got prices of a little over 400 bux for a mild cam. Thats a bit much for something that is only gonna give me 20 to 26 horses. If I can find a cam for 250, maybe a good used one and throw some Hooker LT headers I can get maybe 50 then do a few other things to get me to 60. Help me out.

Hey Magyver,
If you get LT's and a cam, you can pull 400 + rwhp depending on what cam you get! Also, you will have to upgrade the valvetrain!! Look into it, and see what cams you can get used. If you can get a nice, radical cam used for $250, then you can get a set of Jet-Hot LT's for $540 shipped, and then you'll have about $210 left. You'll need about $300 - $400 for the upgraded valvetrain, which isn't much more to save. But then you gotta think about installation costs too, unless you can do it yourself. Weigh out your options, but I would definately say to do it the right way and get the LT's, cam, and upgraded valvetrain!!! Also, I don't know if you're looking to go radical on the cam, but even a not so radical cam like the TR224 put down 390 rwhp on my friends Camaro with stock heads and upgraded valvetrain, and bolt ons! Look around and do your research on what cam you want, and see if you can find it. Also, if your interested, go over to ls1.com and pm The Dragon, he's one of my friends and he's selling a brand new ASA Hotcam. I'm not sure the specs on it or how much he's selling it for, but I heard it'll make decent hp, and i've also heard it can be run on the stock valvetrain, but if i'm wrong someone please correct me cause i'm not sure!!!!

You need mods!
Personally I would go with bolton's first. If you want to go cheap, get a cutout and some long tubes. You really don't want to do a cam until both your intake and exhaust are ready to handle it. The same can be said of N20, but to do that you really need to think about spending 1K bucks. Cuz you want to get the safety features and do it right, other wise you'll be rebuilding your engine. I know a guy that bolted on N20 on his M3, but it was not a professional install and the idots did not test it with a small shot, they went right for a 100HP pill and he is now rebuilding his M3!:dead:
Well that's my thoughts...

I just came back from a friend's shop. He's been working on GM cars for 30 years. He was actually working on my twins LT1...cam and headers work. I told him my scenario and he suggested if I want 60hp + to get an ls6 manifold (used), long tube headers and maybe a mild hotcam or comp cam. Those together should give me 75 horses. I am going to have him do the work and get good install rates, cuz I am going to be helping him anyway. I am looking forward to the job and the outcome. Oh by the way my twin thought he was slick trying to get the work done undercover so he can surprise me at the track.:D Well I'm up on the game now....I will be making more trips to the shop to know if he is trying to slip any other work in there and being slick about it.

im looking for some good places to take my camaro to when i plan on doing some work to it... the intake manifold installation you can do yourself... it's not that hard, i think they have instructions on ls1.com... that or it's on www.installuniversity.com
lemme know though about all the local spots you know about (for installation and buying stuff for the camaro) cuz i live in miami and when i get my camaro (ehh, gotta wait a few more months for this one [ls1]), im planning to do a lot of work to it and i'd rather know now before hand than to find out in a hurry. thanks bro

My twin is opening up a shop with a dude who's been working on GM cars for 30 years. The guy is pretty cool and does a lot of performance applications. Well to be honest that's all I see him doing. Email my twin at maxg@bellsouth.net and tell him I told you about him. The shop is where I will be getting cam and headers done.
