Car and Driver Review of the SS
Car and Driver Review of the SS
I was surprised to not see this mentioend already; it's a nice write-up think (unless it has been mentioned elsewhere and I missed it in which case I apologize for the re-post).

Their comments about the "bigness" of it as well as what they see as falts with the interior's materials are a bit of a disappointment.
It's putting up some good numbers with the manual doing 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, the quarter in 13.0 @ 111 and a .92 on the skidpad. I realize this is only one magazine's results but I was hoping for a bit better numbers. However, you have to take your hat off for those numbers at the SS's price point.

That's the third 13.0 @111. What ever happened to magazine test drivers that want to one up the other mags' testers by posting the quickest times with the same kind of car? A 12 sec ET is an eye blink away and none of these so called testers is willing to go get it.
LOL, let MM&FF get ahold of it.
I've heard claims like this before, and I call bull**** on all of them... There's no way in hell a BONE STOCK LS1 Camaro goes 12.8 in any conditions, much less on a HOT SUMMER DAY
there was either an error with the timing system, the car wasn't stock or someone was lying
The only way that's happening is with the best driver in the world using DR's on a COOL night with a factory freak
I believe he did it at Englishtown, which has an extremely low elevation. I hadn't heard before that it was in the summer. Maybe late summer, as temps are falling. As I recall, the DA that day was like -1000.

The car was bone stock but they did little tricks that any other magazine wouldn't have done, like removing the air filter, laying down VHT to prep the track, putting ice bags on the intake, lowering air pressure in the tires, etc.... So it wasn't a real world street test.
FYI...He drove a 98 Z to a 12.89 @ 108 in very cold weather (I talked with him a couple of weeks after he did that).
EDIT: Went back and read a few later posts after I made mine....they didn't do a damn thing to EITHER car. The track was definately prepped (Evan used to work at E-Town, and would make sure it 'bit' whenever MM&FF was doing tests).

I'm so looking forward to seeing them on the road.
