In a worst case scenario, how long will Camaro be around?
In a worst case scenario, how long will Camaro be around?
Reason I ask is we recently moved to Anchorage where it wouldnt have been particularly wise to purchase the new Camaro, even though I've been waiting for years. So I went with an '08 Silverado. That being said, my tour here is 4 years.
If the worst happens to GM, is there any guarantee that the Camaro will be built a certain number of years?
Just curious. Thanks.

The absolutely worst case scenario:
GM can't work out a deal with bondholders, the government pulls the loans, and GM stops all production and files for bankruptcy protection April 1st. Only a couple thousand lucky people get their Camaro.
More likely: GM limps along for many more years and the Camaro stays in production forever.

Worst case senario is GM liquidates, gets bought out and Camaro remains.
Why?
-There's no reason to pull the plug regardless of who owns the tooling/buildings etc.
-Camaro will be a success
-Oshawa car plant is a new Flex plant capable of producing various platforms
-Liquidations means a car company gets everything for pennies on the dollar
So worst case senario is it doesn't get renewed for a 7th gen. or a corporation with more money and better marketing than GM is able to generate increase sales.
Some of GM's biggest problems are not because they lack competitive exciting new models but rather they lack the marketing budget or marketing know how. A new management team with money can change all that.

It isn't just a matter of some other company, or even GM wanting to produce the Camaro.
The Camaro is going to have to prove not only that it can turn a profit but that it can turn enough profit to justify its continued existance.
Assuming GM survives in some form, there is no guarantee that the Camaro will - the general public buying lot's of them is its best hope for survival.

i hope it does
the third gen lasted 10 years, the second gen lasted 9 years. i hope this new car is popular and goes the distance. i also hope that when the production finally ends that we will get a 6th gen camaro. all hopes

But going back to your thread title:
What's the worse case scenario regarding how long Camaro will be around?
April 1st 2009...... about 13 days away.
You asked.
On a car that is almost entirely square and angular, how would round taillights make any sense?
And I think you're giving the CAW too much credit.

but I love the rest of the car.
