Urgent help needed with racetronix fuel pump install

I have cut off the female hose connector end off of the stock pump but can not get it to fit into the new connector on the racetronix pump. The stock connector has two barbs and I can not get them into the new connector. Since i cant get the barbs in I cant get the connector to lock. Please help!!

did everyone elses already have a female connector installed on the open end of the hose? Or did they have to install the stock female connector into the racetronix hose and crimp it?

I think it had a hose clamp at the top of the corrugated teflon hose to the hard line whereas the original pump had a female disconnect fitting.
