I still think the Chally is a nice looking car. But I definitely prefer the Camaro.

I like the Challenger a lot. Here's my reasons.

It has nice boxy body lines, like an old muscle car. The high swept lines remind me of my '83 Pontiac Grand Prix (I can provide pics if you want), the dual headlights on each side mirror a retro muscle car, interior is kinda bland, but it is a comfortable car, and it is an eye catching car.

Reasons why I like the Camaro so much, it's sexy. Pure and simple. The interior IS a perfect mix of retro styling and modern functionality. I love the interior the best of the three. The impressive v6, c'mon! It's pushing as much horses as the Mustang's v8! Also, it's very sporty while still looking retro. Zune integration, tap button shifting, etc.

Not much a fan of the Mustang, it's a nice looking car, but it's my least favorite of the three.

Random question, is their a proper term for the "half doors" of the Camaro and Challenger? I'm talking about how they don't have a "frame" around the window. I'm not sure how else to really explain it, lol

The Camaro looks good, but since they seem to never be producing the stupid thing, no one can get a real opinion of them. As of right now, it's all a bunch of Chevy hype saying it will have this, and do that... They need to get off their butts, and actually make this thing already, if they ever intend to sell to anyone other than a current Chevy fan

Apparently that guy hasnt seen the pictures.

Ah, that post was made in August.
Still uninformed.

I wouldnt own a Challenger if they gave me a fleet of them for free. Boring, heavy, and too expensive for the performance.
Numbers wise, the Camaro will outperform all of them.
Price wise, Camaro still has the advantage, especially when you factor in price/performance.
Design wise...cant beat the sexy lines, the retroness of the design, and modern technology tomake the Camaro a better car.

I read that the Challenger only weighs around 200lbs heavier than Camaro? I'm not sure if that data is valid, I can't remember where I saw it...

I was behind a Challenger for the first time yesterday. It was an RT. Wow, that thing
sat high. At the stop light it was next to a 3rd gen Trans Am. It made the Trans Am
look like a dingy. Seriously, it was huge compared to the TA. I can see the Dodge
boys getting excited over that car, but seriously, Camaro SS vs Challenger is there
really any question as to the car to have. I think not. ;)

In all honesty I think esthetically the Challenger is breathtaking to behold. It truly is near perfect reproduction of the original 70 model. But it isn't a Camaro. The Challenger never resounded with me like the Camaro. It was hulking and a bit brash while I saw the Camaro as very muscular, yet much more trim and lean, purpose built to go very fast. The new Camaro exemplifies that even more and makes it exceedingly more modern and interesting than the new Challenger does.

Also according to Motor Trend the SRT-8 model they tested weighed 4146 lbs.

Thats my problem with the Challenger, is its a 1970's look a like.... I remeber the Charger being the car to get from Dodge back in the day. Its just wierd that the Charger came back is the family sedan and the Challenger came back as the muscle car.

Challenger was introduced to compete with Mustang/Camaro/Firebird back in the day. Charger was a full size car. Most full size cars were available with two doors at the time. Today a full size car with two doors would not sell. Therefore, Charger only comes with 4 doors. The departure is not as radical as most would like to believe.

does anyone know the numbers on the challanger? 1/4 mile, 0-60, 60-0, slolum, 0-100.....you know those kind of things. i dont really care too much to loko it up myself but i figured someone might know it off the top of their head.
there was an article in car and driver , i think, and it compared the g8 gxp to the srt-8 charger. that is basically a camaro challanger comparison, minus a few hundred lbs. well at least on the camaro end. the challanger might be the same weight.

Oh I thought this might be news that the SCCA is doing a Trans Am class for these cars.

Well gee, my '67 and '69 Camaros did not have dual headlights on each side, guess that means they could never qualify :)! I think the new Challenger is OK if you want a remake of the '70s Challenger, myself I prefer the updated look/style of the new Camaro, if I wanted another '69 Z/28 I'd go buy a '69.

I think 0 -60 was something like 4.8 - 4.9. Camaro SS is going to ounce all over the Challenger!
