Hmmm, I'm gonna have to go for a little "sight-seeing" drive at some point?! :eek: :lol: The only cars I saw last time I drove by were the ~dozen or two in the small compound (those pics were already posted on here as well). Hopefully I can get my hands on another one soon to check it out a little better ;) ...... with this many cars built now, I don't see what the problem with "availability" is?!?! :D

That looks to be about 150 to 200 cars. only say another 15800 to go to meet the preorders... Availlibility is still a little short ;) but were off to a good start!

Beautiful! Now if they just had some Imperial Blues or Arctic Whites in there, me and the missus would be truely happy.

I would rather that they build all of those cars and make sure Q/A is very high! This should lead to sold ordered production cars being shipped even quicker with less Q/A holds once production starts next Monday.

i would hate for anything to happen to the camaro's future but it would be a nice piece to start a collection with, if for some reason things dont work out so well. but im hoping for the best.

Drove down the street yesterday to see for my self in person, what a site just awsome but i was a little sad in thinking thoses cars will all most likely go to the crusher and will never find a home. With all of them the thoght crossed my mind to get a car trailer and free one of them lol do you think they would miss just one lol.:p

Ok, I had to register to put your minds at ease. After showing these pictures to my boss,I was able to find out this much:

Each dealer is getting 1 car for a nationwide unveiling that will take place in early may. They are all V6's, the RS ones being autos, while the ones with sunroofs are 6-spd. The cars will be shipped to dealers completely at random. The idea is for every chevy dealer to have one in the showroom on that day for people to see and get excited over. I guess they felt that these will be the most popular colors.

Also, if you look closely the window stickers don't have info on them, just the standard "pricing info was not available at this time" message.

The good news is that I was specifically told these are NOT "program cars", as somebody else had originally came to that conclusion.

As well, our neighbour at the plant has confirmed all along that the "official" production cars won't be built until the "official" production date ... which is still slated for March 16th, correct? Every car built before is NOT a car which can be licensed for regular street use.

Unless they're all just trying to pull the wool over our eyes, but I truly doubt it :rolleyes:.

Before I even pulled up the pictures, he knew that there would only be the 4 colors, and also knew they would be RS models or have sunroofs. All I know, is his version of why these cars are there was pretty convincing. Could these be for a completely different reason and just a coincidence they are set-up exactly like the dealer-unveiling cars? of course....but I don't think so.

Like you said, the "facts" you got on these cars IS pretty close to the truth. However, they're not ALL V6's ;) (look at the very first couple of pics, and tell me you don't see a bunch of "hood scoops" in there) and I think the other main point we're stuck on is whether they're "sale-able, production" cars or not ..... I'm not disputing that they're probably ALL destined for the big unveiling, but will ANY of them ACTUALLY be sold to a paying customer? :shrug: According to everything we've heard so far, NO ... because they're not "production models" (yet).

I wouldn't be so sure of that except that we've all heard it from Scott, AND my neighbour pretty much said the same thing (March 16th).

GM isn't about to produce that many vehicles ($$$$$$) to be put in the crusher later. The cars have already been evaluated by employees in the test fleet. These cars are being built for mass release to the dealers.....and they will just do the paperwork on them and add the door stickers with VINS etc. after March 16th. The VIN plates on the dash are produced in advance and were installed at assembly. Do you really think GM would want to be put under the microscope by Senator Shelby and the Pelosi California Hippies for producing another 200 cars for the scrapyard a week before production begins? After they made Rick Wagoner car pool to Washington? I think not.

Scoop (non functional) is on the V8s only. It is not part of RS content on either V6 or V8. Do your own legwork, and no need to point out to the boss he was wrong. The info is out there.

Your boss is full of it. First of all there are not only 4 colors. As confirmed by Scott, there are actually 6 colors represented: red, yellow, black, silver, imperial blue, and inferno orange.

Actually that red one, is inferno orange. As others have pointed out, only the SS Camaros have the fake hood scoop. RS means something else.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, however most Chevy salesmen know less about GM products than the majority of enthusiasts on this website. Stick around a little while and you might learn something. In fact, perhaps your boss should visit this website as well. Maybe if he understood what most of us enthusiasts/consumers did, he'd have a better idea on what he needs to do to sell more cars. :p

There could be some truth in what Solo II is saying.
These cars COULD be going to dealers, but just not for sale.
Kind of like demo cars, so people can crawl around them, test drive them, and whatever.
After the unveiling/demo process, the cars would go back to GM and eventually be sold off as program cars.
It could happen.

I apologize if I came off wrong, I only intended to present the information as I was made to understand it. As I said, it may just be a coicidence that the vehicles pictured appeared to be what we were told would be made for the nationwide unveiling, and sounds like it is.

Don't worry ... as I mentioned in another thread about the production capability of the plant, they can build another "fleet" of cars like that in just a couple days, so once (official) "production" starts, those ~couple hundred cars will be long forgotten ;).

I actually JUST drove by that lot about ~20 minutes ago ..... holy CRAP are there a lot of Camaros in there!!?!?!! :eek: :shock: :bow: I felt like a kid in a candy store (and I wasn't technically "in" the "candy store" ... just driving by! :lol: ). Even better, as I was driving down Stevenson Rd. (one of 2 main roads alongside the plant) a trio of cars pulled out onto the road in front of me to make their way down to join the rest of the fleet!! :D It was awesome!! :bow: :D

I am with Jason on this one. I can not get enough pics of this car, even if they are basically the same pics that we saw a few days ago!

I got a fuzzy camera phone pic of the cars that pulled out in front of me. I'll post them later on as "proof" ;). I was afraid of getting hunted down and shot for it, but the big lot where the fleet of cars are parked was WIDE OPEN!!! :eek: I was so tempted to pull in, but I value my life too!!! :D

those used company cars are some of the best cars to get. very well maintained and when they sell them you can normally get alot off from the normal sticker price.

first of all, you work for a stealership. So you should know that mis-information is 50% of what is laid out to the public, and outright lies is the other 50%. If I had a dollar for every false truth ever told to me by a salesman I'd pay cash for my Camaro.

If any of this cars are going for testing, then it would be a safe bet to say that several will be used for crash cars. Also, if some are going to be used as fleet cars, do this guys get to pick the options on the cars when they built them?
