Great night at the track... busted into the 7.7s and had several guys ask me how much juice I was squeezin'... which was kinda cool. Particular given that we're ALL MOTOR.
Had a Nissan GT-R that wouldn't stage up on us... best I saw him lay down was 8.0x...
Tore the field UP... It's late... more tomorrow.

You're really hooking with that converter! Is this your daily driver? If so, what tires do you run when not at the track?
I'm glad to know that my old car could handle a GT-R, and that my current car won't have any problem either once it's finished.

No she's not EVEN the DD... I live for Friday nights and I get her out over the week-end, for some 0-60 and light to light fishin'. But the words out and it's gettin' real hard to find takers any more.
She sits on the 20" Chrome steel rims which the kid (my nephew) from whom I bought the car, had on it; of which there were three, due to his feeble driving skills.
So the rear usually has the 20's with Falken Z-rated skins and up front it's got a pair of stock salad shooters I bought to even out that side...
I've got something like seven grand in this car all together, which includes the purchase price of two grand; with the exception of the new headliner and visors, which went on almost immediately I got it and a couple of hundred in the recent paint for the hood, rear deck and spoiler... ALL of the coin has been dropped in the engine and drive-train.
So while it would be nice to have matching rims... I don't get too misty about it; and it has the added benefit of jhumiliating the crap out of the would-competition when this old gal with mis-matched shoes lays down the law.
Had a sweet black on black Beemer, beautiful car, with chrome trim... and an exhaust, which was the least attractive element of that car (IMHO) get a major dose of that this mornin...
He had rolled from the opposite side of the intersection on one of those cute little Pontiac coupe convertibles... can't remember the name of the thing for the life of me... but he's just RIPPIN' DOWN The ROAD putting it to that little Pontiac (which are hardly speedsters... they lean on "cute" pretty hard).
I'm on a red arrow and can't move, but once I got the light I hauled upon him at the second light down and laid him OPEN on the green. And THAT was while my tires were melting off the rim... I walked him to half a car, (again... while spinnin' like a freak...); second saw a full lenth on him until we hooked and that was all she wrote... LOL...
But he was REAL SHINY and looked GREAT the whole time my 13 year old Z28 with 160k miles and mismatched shoes, rolled him up. He bailed right after I shifted into 3rd and I stayed in it through 75 and he was gone...
I think that GT-R was restricted by the Driver Mod... Motor Trend sets that car at 11.6 in the 1/4mile which translates to a 7.6(ish) 1/8th mile. Which is why I wanted to rum him... but he had just bought it and just wasn't leanin' on it too heavy, is my guess. I am hopin' he gets back out there for some practice and we get a chance to tee-it-up on 'em.

Even with factory-provided "launch control", I guess it isn't as easy to launch an AWD car as people think. I've been doing it for over 16 years so I've got a low 1.7x down pretty well. It's funny because I look like I wouldn't have a clue about cars, much less how to get one down the quarter.
When a car looks rough but still wants to play, I listen for what might be lurking under the hood. It's never a guarantee but you can usually spot the cars that spent 99% of the budget under the hood. We've got a good local bunch of general "car guys" that span all the manufacturers so I'm up on all the usual tricks & techniques no matter what kind of car it is.
I'm going the full sleeper route -- a plain import sedan that looks stock, driven by a middle-aged fat guy. It should top 400whp (close to that in torque too) in 93 octane trim, in a 3300lb car with AWD and a 5spd manual. No traction control, no stability control, no farting exhaust. This summer should be lots of fun for me if I ever get the time to bolt everything onto the car.

Not the same car
Not the same driver
Not the same track ie altitude
Not the same day ie weather
Any and all of the above can effect the ET a lot.
Maybe on your track on the same day/weather as you saw the GTR run the OP would have run a 7.2

Shortly after I first got my Z, before I began going to the track, I spent a ton of time tearin' up the road looking for anyone to run... A couple of weeks into it, I came upon a Blue Subaru at the light by our house and the guy GOES on me... I'm chuckle and throw the hammer and that dude came REAL close to hurtin' my feelin's... But the world quickly returned to equilibrium when we pulled him in second, but I puckered right up when he launched...
LOL... he had a BIG ol'e grin on his face when he came up at the next light... he really enjoys the launch thing...
Something was up with the GTR. Saw a stock one go 7.6, then a 7.3 using the launch control!
Good times for your car, though!

But hopefully it'll be after the new heads arrive...

Like I said, Motor trend has that car at an 11.6... and that should put him mid 7s at our track.
Yeah, I don't think we were seein' anywhere NEAR what that car is good for... I expect, if he gets back out there and gets used to running it, we'll see something different...

The fact that someone sees one run a good number at his track doesn't mean there's anything wrong with one that runs slower at another track.
My point was that a car that runs 11.6 at a sea level track will run mid 12s in Denver at 5000+ feet. A car that runs 11.6 in perfect 50° weather will be lucky to get into the 11s on a 90°+ low barometer day.

Right until they use the launch control feature too many times (rumor is somewhere in the single digits). Then it's flagged as "abusive driving" and the warranty is history.
Somewhere in all those computer systems is a great logging feature.

Man can you lead me to something which might confirm that?
It was also published that the car that they used to get the great numbers at the Nurburgring wasn't stock it was specially prepped for the track. So their bragging rights for fastest stock car at the 'ring is all bs.
A bad ride for sure but the factory wants us to think it's better than it really is.
This is a good example:

They discuss and then link to the actual warranty policy. Basically if you drive without the nanny in full control, you've voided the warranty and apparently also kill the car.
It sounds to me like they released the car with a tranny that just isn't up to the job expected of a $100k car.

I don't call this confirmation but I heard the same thing from a buddy sitting in my livingroom several weeks ago.

We should gather the strength of the F-body community and start a business selling frame off F-Bodies for $90 large... Figure the ceiling has to be 45 large in labor and materials leaving 45K for the long stroke and PRESTO we're selling cars which look better, go faster and attract more tail than the best Europe and Japan can produce... And don't worry about the ZR-1... (no back seat
