Could this be the closest thing to a customized 2010 Camaro not created by Chevrolet?

Here's the back story...

A group of youth and adult car customizers had a chance of a lifetime — create a vehicle to promote the third coming of a classic hot rod.

One of the designers thinks the auto enthusiasts delivered in the clutch.

"It's very nice," said Matthew Zasilakis, 16, of Macomb Township, of the two-toned, 420-horsepower drag racer created out of the new 2010 Camaro, set to hit showrooms in less than 10 days. "We worked really hard on this car."

"We have a great opportunity to show off this car before it comes out," said Mike Oginsky, head of the Explorers Scout Troop affiliated with the General Motors Tech Center in Warren and UAW Local 160.

The weird part is, the blue color in my pics is actually sort of a deep blue/purple, more like what is here from the article linked above:

OMG! Man I remeber they used to do that at the Warren Tech Center. Get a bunch of high schooler and rebuild a car. I wonder if its the same thing they did.

Good lord that is exactly the paint & color scheme I had planned for my own 2010, except that I also planned matching blue seats & door/dash trim panels. The economy has since wrecked my plans but it's good to good to get an idea of how it would have turned out (pretty damn good I think, those kids did a great job).

GM could have taken notes from these kids and offered a shade of blue that actually pops, as opposed to the dreary, bland imperial and the sissy, teal-looking aqua. But I somehow doubt there are any MCE's or updates in the cards for this car anytime soon, if ever.

I like to give each of these kids a "High Five". Great Job!

how did they get that car? i like the 2 tone paint job. ive been thinking of keeping black on the bottom and red on top with silver pin stripe separating the colors.

I was talking to the guy who was with it for a while. It was built with all spare parts on a pre production body that didn't have all the mounting points the production ready parts ended up needing so they had to do a lot of fabrication.
They had to have a custom tune to get it to run (it was an auto they switched over to a T56, it has an auto column and wiring I guess). He said they JUST got it running so they could drive it on the truck to get it down there :) He also said their's no vin and it's not titled :( Still VERY bad ass car.

I don't know why, but after I clicked on the first link, not only did it bring up the page, but it kept on bringing up copies, page after page after page, multi popups. I had to shut down my pc. :(

Yep those are types of programs the big 3 have done and will do without much recognition with some of the pre-production vehicles that get spared the crusher.
