I'm liking the Red Jewel Tintcoat more & more. With a tan interior and some champagne colored rally stripes (custom, of course), that would be one classy car.

Very cool. Wonder what they are going to do with all those cars? I guess most maybe dealer demos or are being tested by GM employees. Tomorrow is March 1st, 15 days to production begins!

I have a feeling, someday future Camaro fans will be remembering these pix the way 3gen fans do now with corresponding factory pix of their cars :)

These aren't pictures of customer orders yet, those orders don't start production until 3/16, 2 weeks from tomorrow.

I JUST saw one tonight driving home from work!!! :D It was headed west (aka: "south" towards Detroit ;)) on the 401, only ~5 minutes west of the plant :thumb:. Of course, I was headed the opposite direction, so only caught a momentary glimpse, but I saw pretty much one of every colour, and more than one with the "hood scoop", so there were some SS's in there :D.

I'm sure there have been a few like that, but it's the first loaded carrier I've seen :).

I'd like to be wherever that truck has to stop later .

The new Camaro is on the cover of one of the major mags this month. I checked it out at the grocery store this evening, but I can't remember the mag. It may have been Motor Trend. The article said it was going to have something like 565 horsepower, and that the 6 speed would top out around 197 mph. Is that true? If so, that's pretty crazy.

The quarter mile times listed were something like 12.3. I hope it makes it to production. Maybe I'll be able to afford one before I'm 60. I'm really anticipating seeing how they turn out. I'm sure I'm not alone.

we've gone without the Z/28 before....

The only true years a Z28 was not available in any form or fashion was 1975 and 1976. That was the worst years for cars
that I personally can remember. Who would want a Z28 that is all show and no go. That was the mid to late 70's. All show and no go.

I can't believe I missed this thread! Great pictures!

I think it's funny that so many of the Camaro5 guys think they might be for production.

Let's just be clear: they're not. Cars built before March 16th will not be sold through regular means. A limited number of them might be auctioned off, but I would guess that most of those cars are destined for EPA testing, crash testing, final validation testing, etc. They're also great practice for the people that work on the line. :)

I thought about that as well, some of them could be the "demo" V6's that each dealer is supposed to receive. I saw the VR SS/RS as well, that is my order as well!

I ordered a black interior as well. This will be the third Camaro I've owned with a red/black color combination. I just think that color combination makes for a good looking color.

You guys with the VR/Black interior...please take pics when you get them!! I am also in a toss up of getting ALL black, or the two-tone with the silver.
I am now also thinking of getting the red metalic....thats a sharp looking color, with a set of cyber gray stripes....
I need to really see the two up close. NYIAS cant come fast enough.

My '98 SS was all black. Black is beautiful when it is clean but a real pain! I never owned a red car before and I love how the new Camaro looks in VR. I agree the VR/Black is a great combination, just hoping that it is not too much black inside.

Will do...I was considering changing to the two-tone gray with VR, but think that the black interior will just be much better IMO. The red jewel is very nice, but I am not 100% sold on it on the Camaro. Those kinds of darker red metallics look awesome on the Vette, Camaro needs a more muscular red like VR. That is just my opinion, but Red Jewel is definitely a beautiful color, especially with the two-tone gray interior.

Yeah I know. They don't understand that you need cars for further testing and just for practice. I sure as hell wouldn't want one of those. First batch of the first year of production? You're just asking for trouble.

Fbodfather explains it in the other thread:

Isn't that a "purty sight???"

Those are Captive Test Fleet vehicles -- including the ones you've seen on transports in various parts of the country......

Yes - they have Window Stickers (better known as "Monroney Labels" -- but there are no separate prices or options printed out on the CTF vehicles as of yet......

NOW.........

To THOSE who said (and there were MANY ......)

"......The Camaro is DEAD -- it WON'T be back...."

(......and other such drivel.........)

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR WORDS (that you are going to eat) SERVED UP?

.......with an Alfredo sauce......

...........................or perhaps a marinara sauce..........

....................perhaps on "Toast Points????..................

....Or -- my PERSONAL favorite.........

WITH A SIDE OF 'SMOKED MUSTANG!'

to continually look for production flaw ands problems. This I can understand.

My guess is that most of those cars are destined to be assigned to various GM employees (like the ones already assigned to Scott, John, and Cheryl, as well a black 2SS/RS assigned to some powertrain engineer that lives in my area ).
