Where did all of you get your cam for your turbo setup and for how much? Custom or shelf grind?

I say cam it like you want it to drive - There are "ideal" cams, but the turbo will make power either way.

Look up Speed Inc's car when they had the lt1. He did a lot of cam swapping and found that every time he went to a bigger cam (even ones with more overlap that suggested for boost) he made more power - Just at a higher rpm range. Well guess what an NA car does with a bigger cam.

If you want to spin it to 7k, get a cam that will do that. I have a 218/224 112lsa cam - technically I still have a little bit of negative overlap, but between the baby cam and tiny turbo I only spin it to 5500-5700ish at most.

I'm looking to spin it to around 6500. I don't really care to see 7k.

My N/A setup did 411RWHP@6080rpm and 396RWT@4500ish RPM....it was fun to drive. Mash the gas at 80kmph and feel the backend kick out. Merging on highways was fun :)

Yeah, it seems like it was so long ago! That was back in 2003... and a few months later I tore it down for the big build. Never got a chance to get it back together.

The tq was great... those numbers were with LE stage 2 heads from 2003.

Cool. I'd like to see how it works with a turbo.

What did you guys think of the street manners/drivability/sound?

Thanks,

Thanks,

It had a good lope to it (probably a 5 on a scale of 1-10). Powerband was perfect IMO. It would buck below 1500rpm until I got the tune worked out, then it pulled pretty smooth down low.

How fast are you wanting to go? Anything under 135mph, just use a stock cam and lt4 springs.

Justin, he is getting a T88 header kit from me, so hopefully he can get in the 145mph area.
